that's scary that they already got 20%...

I mean its sounds like a really nice idea but I don't know there is a lot of grey there and not enough information or regulation of what will happen with the shares etc..

Yes i am waiting for more details, but the idea of it sounds very interesting, and thats probably what has convinced a alot of those people who have shown interest

There are a whole ton of comics that are rarer than Action 1 since DC was one of the 2 major GA publishers and their books would have had much wider distribution.

Amazing Man 26 is from the Centaur line of books which had their beginnings from the mid-30's when comics were still not that widely distributed.  Especially in the case of Centaurs which was basically a relatively small publisher which most likely suffered from poor distribution.  Being the last book in the run, I am sure that A-Man 26's distribution would have even been weaker than the earlier issues in the run as it would have been winding down shop by then.

Most Centaurs are generally considered to be extremely rare relative to most of the other more common GSA books, with many of them having only less than a handful in the CGC census after almost 20 years.  Needless to say, most of these would also be found only in low grade condition and definitely still in demand as any copy is better than no copy at all.  :takeit:

Got it. If you guys miraculously discovered this in your collection, would you hold on to it, or sell it/auction it right away?

:whatthe: this just sounds another interest free loan... lol

what happens if the guy decides to drive the car.. it gets damaged and sells for a lot less because its been damaged.. also don't cars usually depreciate in value as the years go on or the more they are driven, etc... I know there are some vintage collectable cars that sometimes goes up in value but if it starts to get used etc.. it loses money..

    sounds risky

But also the argument is, would you read this CGC graded AF 15, probably not? So then I would think, no one would be driving that countache or 1960 Ferrari GTO, in theory?

Someone a while back was doing this with exotic cars. The idea being you buy a fraction of ownership of the car, eventually when it sells for a profit you collect your profit.

but in the meanwhile all those Ferrari’s will be in his garage, you’ll never get to see them in person

Not sure if it turned out to be a co,plate scam or not, but it was at the very least not a great sell

are you talking about rallyrd? They just started doing books, and sports memorabilia. I think this is there link: https://www.rallyrd.com/

It's funny to me that a bunch of guys on the official CGC board are opposed to the idea that "someone could own a part of a high-valued comic book" while simultaneously supporting CGC... the idea that "comics should be sealed up in a slab and not read." lol

Of the two concepts... ownership in part of something bigger is the one that makes more sense. :foryou:

haha thats a interesting way to put it, but yes very valid.

So many issues with this concept.  Take the AF 15 for example - who set the $125,000 price tag?  A 7.5 just sold for $120k and it had Off-White pages.  So a Cream 7.0 would be worth what - $90K.  So the owner of this book puts it up on the site and pockets the $125k and then the investors only have a $90K book to show for it.  And then the auction house takes 10% so the book is basically worth $80K and investors ponied up $125K for the privilege of owning a piece of a key book.  It will be awhile for that book to reach $140K so that the investors will even get their money back when it goes up for sale.  So much risk and so little reward it's just foolish.

I don't think its an auction. Obviously the value of the book will be debated. But yeah, its a neat concept, and it will be interested to see how it evolves, given the interest so far.

I'm thinking the best grade copy of Action#1 but I honestly don't know.

Yeah that makes sense, its always something I was intrigued by. Like what else do people have in their attic, that they don't know what they are sitting on.

I've split collections with people, including board members. I've also "invested" set dollar amounts with a dealer where I gave him X for buying stock, with the promise of X plus Y at a given date. If someone I trust approached me about sharing a particular book, I'd give it consideration.

Do you think dealers own all the books in their inventory, or only one person owns them?

If the person doing this checks out, I'd have no problem investing at the right price. My only issue is there are many better ways to invest my limited capital.

Hmm, yeah I wonder that too. I would think dealers own them? My other question is where would the book be stored?

  9. Valid points, I am quite surprised and a little impressed how many investors & shares have been bought out. I think each share is worth $75 and from my understanding after doing a bit of research, it is like the Robinhood of comic books, and it would be registered with the SEC, so legitimate investment. There is a company called Rally RD which does something similar but with collectible cars, and they had a lot of success. So WE SHALL SEE.

  10. Hi All,

I was just bored one day, and found this thing that this site called www.hipcomic.com is doing. I have sold/bought from them before, highly recommend. They are allowing people have fractional ownership of the Amazing Fantasy #15, by buying shares that you can own. I personally think its kinda cool, and see how it does. I reserved shares, I think right now you can only show interest, but thought it would be of interest to people here. This is a book that is def I have always dreamed of owning.
