  1. Picked up this haul yesterday at a local swap meet. Most of everything here was $2-3 each, a few that were $5 (Saga7, MP21, Defenders27). I think i made out pretty well. I think my favorites have got to be the Saga #7 (low print run), Hellboy signed by Maleev, the Inhumans issues and Marvel Premier 21 (1st app. Misty Knight).
  2. Breaking in my new scanner with this Kirby silver age sci-fi goodness. Book is in pretty solid condition. Major defect is the crease on lower right front cover which goes through to the first 2 pages. Pages are all present and supple, no brittleness whatsoever and are tightly attached to the staples. Thanks for any help!
  3. I'm gonna go ahead and join in on this again this year. Last year I was keeping track of my progress over on the DC app and was able to repost most of my submissions from over there to here on these boards before the end of the year. But ill be trying to make a post here at least once every couple weeks since I seem to be going through a lot of comics so far this year already. Ill also be posting pics of my favorite books that I read on each of the lists I post and some covers that I just think are cool. Lately I've been reading a lot of Marvel, trying to get caught up on runs/ events that I missed. I'm also going to be going through my golden age books (mostly) in alphabetical order and reading some of those that I haven't read yet. Anyway, here's my first list of everything that I've read since January 1st. -King in Black: Namor #2, Symbiote Spider-Man #3, Return of the Valkyries #1, Iron Man/Doom #1, Planet of the Symbiotes #1, Gwen's vs. Carnage #1, Thunderbolts #1 (7) -Taskmaster #1-2 (2) -Thor #11 -Guardians of the Galaxy #10 -Venom #32 -Amazing Spider-Man #55-57 (3) -Spider-Woman #8 -Wolverine #8 -Dark Knights: Death Metal #7, :The Secret Origin #1, :The Last Stories of the DC Universe #1, The Last 52: War of the Multiverses #1 (4) -Detective Comics #1033 -Future State: The Next Batman #1, Dark Detective #1, Swamp Thing #1 (3) -Batman Annual #5 -Detective Comics #1033 -Crossover #2,3 (2) -Spawn #312, 313 (2) -Buster Brown Comics (1945) #7, 10 (2) -Jack Armstrong (1947) #8 -Buck Roger's in the 25th Century (1951) #101 -Justice Traps the Guilty (1947) #29 -Defenders: The Best Defense TPB (5) -Marvel Universe: The End TPB (6) -Infinity Omnibus HC (24) -Sub-Mariner: The Depths (5) -Famous First Editions New Fun #1 -Guardians of the Galaxy & X-Men: The Black Vortex HC (13) -Inhumanity TPB (20) -Harrow County Omnibus vol. 1 (16) TOTAL: 126 2021 TOTAL: 126
  4. Found some golden age westerns at an antique shop today. I figured $6.95 each for some GA was a good enough deal for me to pick them up. The Hoot Gibson issue also features some Wally Wood art.

  9. Back with a nice, high grade copy of MTU 12. I picked this up a few months ago for $4. No issues on the inside. The major defects are on the front cover and those are in the angled pictures, just a few very minor creases around the staples and LLFC. Thanks for any input!
  10. I personally don't own any SS slabs, but I wanted to share some of my favorite autographed books with everyone here (hopefully thats not frowned upon). These first two I would consider acquired signature grails of mine, there's not many more signatures i feel like I need in my collection after these two. The first is Marvels #1 signed by Alex Ross and Kurt Busiek, COA by Dynamite Forces and serial #d 479/2500. Alex Ross was one of my favorites as a kid. I don't know how many hours I spent flipping through the pages of Marvels and Kingdom Come as a child in absolute awe over his work. This 2nd book is a Clayface 1-Shot drawn by Kelley Jones with a big, beautiful sig of his on the front cover. Jones was also one of my favorite artists when I was younger. I grew up on his Batman run and when I was a little older (10-13) I was obsessed with his horror stuff (the Batman Vampire trilogy, The Hammer, Deadman, Aliens: Hive), pretty much anything gory he did I consumed. I think his style really shaped my taste in horror overall. I've got a few more books to share but I think ill keep it to these two for now. Thanks for looking and hopefully you enjoyed them as much as I do.
  11. I started keeping track of my comic book reading over on the DC app in May but I thought I'd share my reading adventures here also. I'm just gonna copy and paste a couple posts here and there over the next several days so I'm not just bombarding this thread with a huge list of books. But here we go... This was posted May 16th I’ve decided to start to keep track of my comics read in 2020. I dont know if ill be able to go back and remember every comic I’ve read so far but here’s what I’ve read recently. I’ll go through my stacks and update with what I know I’ve read. Itll be interesting to see how many comics I actually do read in a year. This week I’ve read: Swamp Thing (2011) 0-12 Animal Man (2011) 12 Swamp Thing (1985) 96-109 Green Lantern (1960) 76-81 Batman: Black & White (2013) 1-4 Detective Comics (1937) 27 Batman (1940) 251-252 Cosmic Ghost Rider Destroys Marvel History 1-2 Amazing Spider-Man (1963) 113-116 Amazing Spider-Man: Full Circle Here’s also what I’ve read in the past couple months since going digital on both DC & Marvel… Superman/Batman Annual 2006 Batgirl (2009) 1-2 Batman: Gotham Knights 1-9 Batman: Streets of Gotham 1 Batman and the Monster Men 1-6 Batman/ Dracula: Red Rain Year One: Batman/ Scarecrow 1-2 The Omega Men 1-2 Green Arrow: Year One 1-6 Batgirl: Year One 1-9 Strange Adventures 205 Brightest Day 0-1 Marvels: Eye of the Camera 1-6 Rocket Raccoon & Groot 1-3 Superior Carnage 1-5 & Annual Death of the Inhumans 1-5 Secret War 1-5 Black Cat 1 Deadpool vs. Thanos 1 House of M 1-8 & :The Day After 1 Death of Wolverine 1-4 Hunt for Wolverine 1 Man Without Fear 1 Venom: Lethal Protector 1-2 Doctor Doom (2019) 1 Guardians of the Galaxy (2019) 1-10 Thanos: The Infinity Revelation, Relativity & Finale Thanos (2016) 1-18 From Hell: Master Edition 8-10 Total:121 Yearly total: 169 There is much more that I need to track, this may be half of what I’ve read so far. I’m looking forward to keeping this updated as well as looking at everyone else’s reading lists. Happy reading everyone!
  12. Yea, I wasn't looking to get it graded or anything so I wasnt very worried about it, just more interested on how something like that would affect a grade since I've never come across any other books with this issue. If this was a Hulk 181, then it would definitely be an Ebay 1/1 worth tons more money.
  13. Hello, today I've got a nice copy of ASM 45 up for your grading expertise. Book looks great at first glance but upon closer inspection there's a few color breaking ticks here and there. Interior has no issues, pages are probably OW/W, lay flat and are tight to the staples. Thanks for any input!
  14. So this copy has a staple error that I haven't seen on any other books. At least not in my experience, I'm sure its probably a common error. Looks like the book was not properly aligned when it was stapled. The book has no staples at all, but there are staple holes in the front cover about 3/4 inch from the spine. They only go through half the book. I'm wondering what kind of affect this would have on the grade if it does have any. Thanks for any input.
  15. Wow, talk about some luck. The Ironjaw is so cool. I love the artwork by Pablo Marcus. You can tell he was a fan of Barry Windsor Smith.
  16. I know the feeling. I've got a few experiences that I kick myself over for not picking a book up when it was cheaper.
  17. I've been on a Hellboy/ Mignola-verse kick lately. Been reading through his HB and related novels. Just finished "Emerald Hell" a couple weeks ago and finished "Baltimore, or, The Steadfast Tin Soldier and the Vampire" before that. Last week I got through "Joe Golem and the Drowning City" and now I'm about a quarter of the way through "An Assortment of Horrors ". When I'm not in the mood to read a novel and need some pictures to look at, I've been slowly making my way through "The Art of Pulp Horror" by Stephen Jones. Really cool book about the history of horror pulps starting with penny dreadfuls in the early 1800s, then the Pulps we all know and love, Weird Tales, The Shadow, Doc Savage, Argosy, etc..., and then comics and the cheesy slasher/exploitation paperbacks of the 60s-80s and all the way to horror books that are published today. I highly recommend it to anyone here who's a fan of horror.
  18. My adventures digging through 50 cent to $2 boxes this past week. I think the best score is the Dark Horse Presents 10, 1st app of The Mask, and in pretty good condition too. First photo, DHP10 and Ironjaw 4 were a dollar, the rest 50c. The second photo everything was a dollar each.
  19. Not much going on with this copy, I just have a hard time grading these higher grade comics. This copy has a few very slight creases here and there (all pictured), and I don't know how many are allowed before it starts to get lower than the NM grades. Interior is flawless, white pages that lay flat, no staple issues, cut outs, etc... Thanks!
  20. Thanks everyone for the tips! Much appreciated!
  21. Hello everyone! So I've got a book here whos kind of throwing me for a loop. At first glance the books looks great, no tears, creases, paper loss, chipping, etc.. but looking closer there's a few flaws that are giving me a hard time, mainly because I don't know how the combination of them would affect the grade. First, there's writing up in the logo box, then its got staining on both the FC and BC, and the bottom staple is popped. Any feedback on these issue and what they would make the book grade would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  22. Today, for your grading expertise, I have both a copy of ASM 361 and ASM 361 2nd Print. (Sorry if this is not allowed, I figured I'd put both in one post instead of making 2 separate posts) Any help and thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Both books are pretty much flawless, the only major things I can see are 2 small, non color breaking spine ticks on the 1st print near both staples. Thanks for looking!
