  1. I’m curious about a book I bought from a very well known dealer back in the mid 90’s if it has already been pressed. Any long timers here know when dealers started pressing high end books?

  3. To all concerned, Apparently I listed my books without realizing that a member cannot list books in multiple sites. Therefore, I am marking my books as sold in order to remove the listing. If a moderator is able to see this reply, kindly note that I was mistaken in listing this today, and apologize. It was not deliberate. It will not happen again. Thank you for your cooperation. Tom

  5. Wishing you good luck, and most importantly good health to you and your family during these challenging times. Stay well! tom
  6. Thank you. Once it’s sold, I will miss it. Bitter sweet for me since I’ve owned it forever. I’m not a Marvel collector these days.
  7. That’s very kind of you. I bought this 25 years ago when the book was affordable and way before the Marvel movies were even a consideration. I am very very grateful to have this book, and especially during what’s happening in our country today. Stay well, and I wish you and your family good health. Take Care my friend! Tom
  8. Thank you, and I appreciate everyone so far being so pleasant. Seems like a nice group of hobbyist. With everything going on in the world, coming here and spending time around the hobby is a wonderful diversion. I’m really enjoying the communication
  9. For Sale: Trophy Copy of Journey Into Mystery #83 CGC 9.2 NM/M Ask Price: $129,000.00 I am new to the board, and in the interest of full disclosure, I am not a dealer. I have been a comic collector for more than 25 years. I primarily collect high grade EC's, however I've have owned several Silver age Marvel Keys over the years. This copy of JIM#83 I've owned since the early 90's and was originally purchased from a very reputable comic book dealer who was formally an Over Street Price Guide Adviser. This book was purchased in a "Fortress" container and held in it since I've owned it. It had never been certified or graded until this February 2020, when I sent it into CGC. Additionally, this book has never been pressed, or cleaned. It is completely untouched, and in its original condition which is bright, clean, and in my opinion presents itself in a higher grade than its 9.2 I will accept Paypal, certified funds, or wire transfers. Once the funds have cleared to me, I will ship the book via FedEx fully insured through my third party insurer, ShipandInsure, for the full purchase price. I will double box the book, package and secure to fully protect against possible damage. All tracking information will be provided to purchaser as well, including receipt from FedEx, which I have an account with. No PL/HOS members The first "take it" posted in the sales thread wins. If we reach a deal via PM, I'll mark books SOLD in the thread as soon as reasonably possible - but if someone else takes the book in the thread before your PM take is acknowledged in the thread (by either you or I), the thread poster is the winner, I'm afraid; so, there is some risk of losing a book if you try to remain anonymous via PM. I kindly ask that you not Quote a book and then make a comment. It makes the book appear to be sold. Payment I'll expect payment within 7 calendar days of invoice. Shipping I will ship out within 3 days of payment clearing. Returns/Refunds There are NO RETURNS
  10. Thanks, your right. I’m overthinking about it. Have you used Joey on high end books? tom
  11. Not sure if you know of or heard of Susan Ciccone of the Restoration Lab, but I spoke to her recently. Sent her pictures, and graders notes from CGC. She said that theirs always a potential risk that even after pressing and cleaning, that CGC will recognize the book and grade it the same even after pressing. She also said theirs a risk the book could get damaged in the process, and transportation to CGC after. I’ve been told she is one of the best. Am I just being greedy and it could bite me in the ? tom
  12. Thank you, really appreciate your guidance and concern. I always respect good advice, and sensible commentary. Nice to have people like you on this board. sincerely, Tom
  13. What are your thought thoughts on Marvel Silver Age prices today? Have they peeked?
  14. Much appreciated. I already have a large position in the stock market, but looking for some diversification outside the market, in something I can have more control over. Comics make it more fun because their tangible. I have a high grade Journey Into Mystery 83, and an FF1 in 7.0 condition both with blue labels. Would you recommend holding for now, or is the silver age Marvel market peeking and bubbly?
  15. What are some of your favorite ideas for books to purchase that are still within reach to buy today, that have the greatest potential for price appreciation over the next 2,3, and 5 years? My budget is between $500-$2,000 per book.
  16. I’ve heard so many various names mentioned on the boards here, and multiple complaints about the quality of CCS pressing services. Some people are even questioning whether CCS actually presses the books. I’m interested to here your opinion of who does hands down the highest quality of pressing/cleaning for golden age & Silver Age books.
  17. If everyone is so displeased and unhappy with the quality of the pressing, rather then complain, VOTE, with your wallet. I think the best way to show your unhappy is the change providers of a service. The other option is to create our own census with a complaint letter that demonstrates your displeasure with the quality of work. Their are probably a dozen pressers out there than would love to service our work. Vote with your wallet.
  18. I’m interested in the Crime Patrol. How can I talk with you about it?
  19. So when you think about all the possibilities, it can really be interesting. My thought was if you put together a legitimate LLC, or LLP. Have a managing partner/curator who oversees the purchase, and maintains the collectibles, comics, signed guitars, baseball cards, etc.... and the collectibles are held in a small office suite, with high end security. Any of the limited partners can make an appointment during certain hours to visit and view the collection behind glass cased displays. The office suite would have high end cameras, and security. Also the temperature and humidity would always be controlled for optimum conditions. The partners would be able to divest at certain times, similar to a hedge fund.
  20. What doesn’t make this form of ownership easy is, where to books are held, how does someone liquidate or divest their ownership position, and the ability to see what’s going on behind the scene. Also as we all know, comic book values go up and down. They run in cycles pretty much in lockstep with other assets appreciating. So during times when the economy is firing on all cylinders, and more people have disposable income, values appreciate. The inverse during recessions. One would like to think that comics are highly liquid. Not the case. Agree or disagree, the higher the value, the fewer buyers available to purchase.
  21. Does anyone think having fractional ownership in very expensive books has potential to catch on? So therefore, let’s say an opportunity presented itself for a group of people to purchase a Detective 27 in fine condition for $$$$, and instead of a single buyer shelling out all the money, a group of 5 to 10 investors pulled their funds together to purchase it. The two caveats I see are, where the book is held, and what if one of the investors wants out before the others. Obviously the book doesn’t get passed around from person to person. The similarity would be in a group of people buying into any high value asset.
