  1. Not sure if you know of or heard of Susan Ciccone of the Restoration Lab, but I spoke to her recently. Sent her pictures, and graders notes from CGC. 
     

    She said that theirs always a potential risk that even after pressing and cleaning, that CGC will recognize the book and grade it the same even after pressing. She also said theirs a risk the book could get damaged in the process, and transportation to CGC after. I’ve been told she is one of the best. Am I just being greedy and it could bite me in the ?

  2. Much appreciated. I already have a large position in the stock market, but looking for some diversification outside the market, in something I can have more control over. Comics make it more fun because their tangible. I have a high grade Journey Into Mystery 83, and an FF1 in 7.0 condition both with blue labels. Would you recommend holding for now, or is the silver age Marvel market peeking and bubbly?

  3. If everyone is so displeased and unhappy with the quality of the pressing, rather then complain, VOTE, with your wallet. I think the best way to show your unhappy is the change providers of a service. The other option is to create our own census with a complaint letter that demonstrates your displeasure with the quality of work. Their are probably a dozen pressers out there than would love to service our work. Vote with your wallet.

  4. So when you think about all the possibilities, it can really be interesting. My thought was if you put together a legitimate LLC, or LLP. Have a managing partner/curator who oversees the purchase, and maintains the collectibles, comics, signed guitars, baseball cards, etc.... and the collectibles are held in a small office suite, with high end security. Any of the limited partners can make an appointment during certain hours to visit and view the collection behind  glass cased displays. The office suite would have high end cameras, and security. Also the temperature and humidity would always be controlled for optimum conditions. The partners would be able to divest at certain times, similar to a hedge fund. 

  5. What doesn’t make this form of ownership easy is, where to books are held, how does someone liquidate or divest their ownership position, and the ability to see what’s going on behind the scene. Also as we all know, comic book values go up and down. They run in cycles pretty much in lockstep with other assets appreciating. So during times when the economy is firing on all cylinders, and more people have disposable income, values appreciate. The inverse during recessions. One would like to think that comics are highly liquid. Not the case. Agree or disagree, the higher the value, the fewer buyers available to purchase. 

  6. Does anyone think having fractional ownership in very expensive books has potential to catch on? So therefore, let’s say an opportunity presented itself for a group of people to purchase a Detective 27 in fine condition for $$$$, and instead of a single buyer shelling out all the money, a group of 5 to 10 investors pulled their funds together to purchase it. The two caveats I see are, where the book is held, and what if one of the investors wants out before the others. 
     

    Obviously the book doesn’t get passed around from person to person. The similarity would be in a group of people buying into any high value asset.
