  1. I see a lot of presumptions here regarding the history of the comics being misrepresented. Can't a man have multiple father in laws each collecting multiple copies of the "SCARCE" comics "threw out" their childhood?
  2. In many states you can pay couple hundred bucks to legally change your name to "Jack Kirby" . So it is possible that the art comes from a Jack Kirby but not the person you have in mind.
  3. I want to advertise some of my books on sale through Mycomicshop (MCS). I am new on this forum and still figuring things out. If this post is in violation of any rules please let me know. 1) Uncanny Avengers 1C Young Variant CGC 9.8 SS, Signed by Skottie Young https://www.mycomicshop.com/search?ItemID=50717479 2) Superman Unchained 1C CGC 9.8 SS, Signed by Jim Lee and Scott Snyder https://www.mycomicshop.com/search?ItemID=50919208 3) Superman's Girlfriend Lois Lane 15 CGC 5.0 https://www.mycomicshop.com/search?ItemID=50919199
  4. So I was browsing the forum. While trying to hit the key for "next" page, I accidentally hit the last page ">>" option and came across this. So thought of having some fun.
  5. My internet explorer is not working properly. Is this deal still available? 😃
  6. Thanks. Seems unlikely. But if it falls through I will get them.
  7. Is there any way I can see CGC census data for Canadian Price Variant of an ASM book? Also I want to get an idea of FMV of the book. I have subscription to Gocollect. But I did not find what I was looking for. Can anyone help?
  8. I believe the correct analogy here would be: instead of being sold at 2300 stores, if ASMs are only sold at 1 store in 20 select citites, would it sell ~30 copies/store or more? I would say it will sell in thousands/store. The first issue(s) would sell out of sheer curiosity. Subsequently, it depends on how good the art or story is received by the readers. As far as enforcing one copy per customer that does limit sale. Many collectors prefer to buy 2, one to read and one to preserve. But it is difficult if not impossible to enforce. I am sure that certain eBay stores would have it up for sale as soon as it releases.
  9. Thank you everyone for their suggestions. I will update here if I make any progress with my collection.
  10. I don't have much expertise in grading and that prevents me buying from older/raw books from my LCS and many eBay stores. So I stick to buying CGC encapsulated books from eBay and older/raw copies from MCS. I do but newer issues from my LCS.
  11. I guess 20 copies per store is massive underestimation. Since there will be only 20 stores at select cities, it would easily be in the hundreds. I mostly shop online on eBay or comic stores like MCS. But, if Houston or Austin gets a store I will drop by to collect their comics, at least for the first few months.
  12. I have some queries regarding collecting Amazing Spider-Man comics. I am looking for suggestions from the boarders in this group. Although I am not new to collecting comics, I have never collected ASMs. Growing up I only collected Superman comics. I want to collect ASMs starting this year. I am currently a graduate student. I can budget ~250$/month towards the hobby right now. I want to remain focused and limit myself to early ASMs, say 1-400. Considering I have no ASM comics and can spend up-to 250$/month towards my hobby, how should I start collecting? Here are some ideas I have contemplated, 1) I often see small run/sequence (no gaps) of 6 to10 silver age ASMs on auction on eBay, which usually sell in the ballpark of 200-300$. I can try my luck with such auctions. 2) Personally, I like shopping from MyComicShop. I see many of the non-key/low-key silver age ASMs are priced in the range of 25-40$ for ~VG grades. I can pick up-to 10 comics each month from MCS of my choice. 3) Cherry picked collections: Many sellers on eBay offer large lots of ASMs, mainly leftovers after they have sold their high valued books. Any suggestions? TL;DR: How should a newbie start collecting ASMs on a budget?
  13. David Finch nowadays charges 350$ per sketch art. If I had the power of omniscience and knew the max bid was in the ballpark of 150$, I would certainly bid higher!! :( That being said, I doubt anyone would meet the ask price of the current seller.
  14. If anybody is interested in the whereabouts of this book. This book recently popped on eBay auction. It seems the suggestion in the board was taken and the art was modified by another artist Ryan Kincaid, who added an "S" and also colored it. Sadly, I couldn't win the book on auction. It sold for slightly less than 150$ and a week later appeared on Amazon for a flat price of 999$!!
