MrBedrock got a reaction from comicnoir in Regrets
Very true. It would be interesting to see what the market would be like if the Church collection had never been found. Would there even be strong enough demand for or high enough prices for vintage comics to warrant auction houses? And if there was only smaller auction activity what would happen if that same collection were found today?

Did we have such a thread in GA? I can't remember it.

Mostly a Silver Age collector but got bit by the Gold bug lately and been wanting some more unique rarer items. Picked this up and was delivered today! Dell Four Color #468 (Goofy #1) Next to Mickey he was always my favorite Disney character. Happy to own it! Got a Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies #25 on the way as well!

In 1987 I sold the Church Wonderworld 7, 8, 11, 12, 13, Science 3 and 6, and Larson Mysterymen 10 as a lot for $3000. Top that.

So I should be satisfied with ,900? You expect me to settle for mediocrity?

MrBedrock got a reaction from SuperBird in Color Touch on Blue Label Batman #5
I try to price up books with that notation on the label. The extra time that CGC put into the grading process and the extra lettering on the label certainly has some additional value.

MrBedrock reacted to N e r V in Regrets
I think it isn't a matter of what you sold or when but if what you used that money for what was a better, equal or worse investment of your funds. Your level of regrets or not depend on those factors.
A better regret might be in what you sold was something almost unobtainable to ever get back such as a piece of original art or something pretty close to that in rarity.
Now if you simply took that 3k and went out and got roaring drunk and drove through the heart of Texas at 150mph to have unprotected sex with a loose and crazy woman and several of her friends including a sailor in public, on the steps of a church, using an American flag for some light B&D kind of thing....
only you could answer if that really was a regret.

There's only one person I can think of who could possibly top that story, Richard.
And that'd be you.

MrBedrock got a reaction from entalmighty1 in A very happy 90th birthday to Lamont Larson!
Happy Birthday Lamont!
Hard to believe that the first Larson I saw and bought was in 1976, over forty years ago. Mr. Larson must have been in his late forties when he sold his collection.
