  1. I think some of the bad odor attached to restored books dates to the early days of CGC when some collectors were angry at finding out they had been sold high-dollar books with undisclosed resto.
  2. Looks like the Allentown Wonder Comics 1 is qualified (because of a spine split) rather than conserved. Or was the spine split later sealed and the book was then put in a conserved slab? If the choice were between qualified and conserved, I would prefer to have the spine split left alone and have the book in a qualified slab.
  3. The erasures on the Larsons were done pretty carefully and you typically have to look closely to see where the name originally was. If you can find Jon Berk's article from the Comic Book Marketplace on his tracking down Larson, it's an excellent read. Probably in an issue from the early '90s. Berk had at least one and maybe two followup articles. The fact that Berk got the whole story from Larson himself adds to the interest. Fairly rare to have someone interview the OO of a major ped.
  4. Nice group of books. I think you nabbed the best of the lot.
  5. Yep. It was apparently originally meant to be the cover for WTR 17 but was rejected. But, then, Baker was supposedly the art director at St John ... so he rejected his own cover?
  6. Nope. The other Jumbo 10 fan in this thread. The guy on the left in that photo looks kinda like Ted Van Liew but I don't remember his being there than night.
  7. I bow to your superior knowledge because I have no clue.
  8. Never met him but did buy from him off his ads in the old RBCC.
  9. Looks like the last GPA sale in 9.2 was $72K. Holy smokes! Looks like that copy sold on HA for $50,400 in Jan 2022 and for $72K in Nov 2022. Heck of a return on a quick flip.
  10. Jumbo 10 fan on the right. You can always tell them by their backpacks.
  11. Prices on this series have rocketed past Jupiter.
