Is it only the Wolverines that have this black center with purple/blue edges distortion?

It’s a weird technology, It’s no surprise that as time passes we see more variations, it’s because more time passes. I had a sticker book in the early 80s, the hologram stickers had all shifted blue black by the time I found it again In the early 2010s. Wish I took pics. The scratch and sniffs still smelled wonderful though, they should have done like cables armpit scratch and sniffs
I fogot to ask: did all of your sticker holograms shift, or did only some of them shift color? If they all shifted color, did they all shift to the same color?

Is it possible we see more variations now because of current technology? If these variations existed back in 1993, the only way we would have known about them is if Wizard magazine published something about them. But because of the internet, we have now been made privy to anything and everything, almost instantly, for the past 2 decades. So maybe these variations existed in '93, but there was no way to get the word out because...no such thing as internet.

Just like with any other comic, some are preserved better than others. Some are exposure to more light or heat. Others are exposed to more moisture. Just saying that I wouldn't be surprised if in the long run, they all shift in that direction.
The only problem with that is that there are slabbed 9.8's out there with just about every color variation. So if this light/heat/exposure/moisture was strong enough to affect a hologram that much, then the cover and pages in these books should also show discoloration and damage, just as much, if not more so than the hologram on their covers. Yet they get 9.8 grades. 🤔

I would not be surprised if we find out in time that they all just shift color with time and exposure.
If that were true, then wouldn't they all have shifted to the same color. Why would some still be green and others black?

2 more additions to the family today. I thought one of these was more of a partial Blue like my others, but when I got it home it looks like more of a blue/green (?) Maybe it is a partial blue, just not very much blue at all. Oh well, I still can't believe I found this mostly Black Wolvie at the same time.

Found a half blue half green one today first one in quite a while.
I found a partial blue today, of the Magneto hologram and the book is pristine. My LCS wants $4 for it. Is that worth it?

I have several of each, the full blue, partial blue, blue/green, the shattered versions, even an orange-red one. All are in superb condition, minimum vf, most nm. I don't think the care of the book has anything to do with the hologram situation. It was likely produced that way (however they make them), and glued on as usual.
On the shattered holograms, the effect is built in to the image. There are no actual interruptions in the surface of the hologram, smooth, shiny, and consistent.
So what is the difference between partial blue, and blue/green?

For these to really matter the hologram needs to be all blue. It is pretty common to find them partially blue.
I was waiting for someone to say that. What took you so long??

You're halfway there!

I also forgot to mention that this is a Newsstand variant as well. Has there been any consensus on whether these blue and blue/green holos occur more in Direct vs Newsstand variants?

How rare do you suppose the blue ones are? Only 1,000 of each? Or less...maybe 100 of each? Just wondering if you've heard any stats like that.

I was digging through the 50 cent bins in my LCS today and noticed something unusual about this Excalibur #71. It reminded me of the pics I'd seen of the Blue Hologram error Wolverine #75 and X-Men #25 from the same event. Since I already own the full Fatal Attractions set at home, I figured I would just buy it (it was only 50 cents) and compare it to the others at home. The hologram does appear different shades of blue from most angles but still retains a full 3D effect. I don't see anything about this blue hologram error on GoCollect or anywhere else for this issue, so am I just imagining this, or what's really going on? I guess I'm looking for some second opinions based on these pictures I took to compare to my other books.
Blue Hologram - Fatal Attractions - Excalibur #71 ???

I still haven't found one of these yet. Are you finding all these at the same shop?
