I've also had this happen recently. I just messaged the seller about the cracked holder, and asked if he would please be willing to refund me the $60.00 it would cost me to have the book shipped back and forth and reholdered by CGC. The seller had no problem with doing this, and refunded me the $60.00 right away. The comic pictured will most likely not have to be re-graded because it doesn't appear that the comic inside was damaged in any way. CGC will not re-grade a comic if it has not been affected by the cracked slab. All you need to do is reholder it, and it will come back in a new case with the same grade and page quality notated on it.

I've been in contact with the seller and he has refunded the shipping and part of the cost. He was cool with it.

I would also ask for clarification, did this come from CGC or did you purchase this already slabbed book from another party that shipped it to you as pictured?

reason I ask is, I have never seen CGC ship a book in a gemini mailer and a plastic bag as pictured so I am going to assume this did not come directly from CGC

if that is the case, you would have to pay for shipping back and forth to them, the cost of a reholder, and the book would possibly and likely have to be regraded

or you could reach out to who you purchased it from and request a refund due to damage during shipping

I won this book off of eBay.

GCG isn't at fault here. I'm just trying to figure out which service I would need.

And I'm working with the seller on a refund.

  3. Why is Submission tracking only 8 moths when Turn Around Times are getting longer than that?

I submitted a book in April 2021, and it was opened in May of 2021. Submitted for grading and pressing. I had asked about the books status in October 2021 and was told that current Turn Around Time for CCS was 200 working days. In January I had to ask again because my submission had fallen off the submission board and the tracking number wasn't working. In January I was told the CCS Turn around time was now 229 working days. At the beginning of March I saw the Turn around times were now listed at 249 working days, and looking again today (23MAR2022) Turn around time has jumped to 281 working days.

And that time is only the CCS function, then it has to go back through Grading services which currently has a Turn around time of 122 Working days. Even if those time table don't expand again until my book is through that is an estimate 403 working days until my book makes it through the entire process. There are only about 260 working days in a calendar year.

When I try and use the number tracking for my submission 3849564 it errors out. I was also told by CGC Customer Service back in January that they knew the Submission Tracker was having issues.

"Unfortunately, we are currently experiencing some issues with the submission tracking.  Some invoices are not displaying properly, even when the information is entered in the search bar.  We are working on that problem now and hope to have that fixed ASAP."

Can CGC remove the 8 month limit on displaying submissions?

If Not, can CGC fix the submission tracking feature?

Can CGC notify customers when Turn Around Times are drawn out?

I don't like being kept in the dark about the status of my book. It shouldn't take an act of god to find out the basic status.

It's a one of a kind piece. It shouldn't matter what color label it has, or even the grade.

I'm actually more concerned that Dave Ryan didn't get credit for his work. Dave has done a few commissions for me now. He's a great guy on top of being an incredible artist.

The TATs certaintly complicate things with trying to get additional signatures on it. With that said, you know it's real and hopefully it's special to you!

I do, and it is. This was a way for me to have my love of Comics and my love of Science Fiction combined. George Takei was awesome and really liked the piece. "Why do I look angry?" I told him he just looked tough. And he was really touched by Dave Ryan's work. This is a keeper. I just wish CGC would have done the artist justice.

They don't have time for that, and shouldn't have to.

Do you live in the same town/zip code as the artist?

Then why have the phone number on the form? If I were the unscrupulous sort all I would have to do is match the Zip Code on the form to the Zip Code I send it from. How would they ever know?

  7. Turn around times are almost a year long. There is no way I could have sent it in for grading and had it back in time for Takei's signature.

I have one book that the artist sent directly to CGC last April. When I've asked about it's status I get the answer "Turn around time in 200 business days" - Jennifer Fuls 27OCT21 and then again "Turn around time in 229 business days" - Dean Martin 31JAN22. You look at the website now and that has gone up to 249 day.

I'd understand if it was just a signature, but this is a full sketch cover. You think they could pick up the phone and verify with the artist? The phone number was on the form. What would stop me from directly sending something into CGC with the form, how would they know?

  8. I had the artist Dave Ryan draw a cover sketch last year. Dave sent it to me with the required paperwork for his listing on a signature series cover. I then directly met with a CGC Authorized Facilitator at Awesome Con last year to get George Takei's signature on the book. I got the book back today with a Green CGC Signature Qualified Grade label. It has George Takei listed, but the only says 'Name & Sketch written on Cover'. I don't understand what happened. Has this happened to anyone before?

  9. Dberg Dave, that would be great if it worked. But it doesn't. I try searching by my submission number and I get this. When I contacted the help desk the only answer I was given for it being in CCS status since October was that average TAT was 229 days. This was after getting a TAT answer back in October of 200 days. And since 31 January the TAT has grown to 249 days.

  10. I have a book in right now for grading that is a custom cover. I submitted it last April, and it got checked in on 26 May 2021. I first checked in on the book in October 2021, and was told turn around as 200 days. I check in again in January of 2022, because I couldn't even see it on the tracker any longer as it was past the 8 months. In January I was told turn around was now 229 days. I just checked the website today 1 March 2022, and it now states a turn around of 249 days. There are only around 260 working days in a year. Tried checking on my book again and the submission tracker is still busted. So CGC has known about that for over a month, at least. And Why is the 'View Status' tracking only 8 months if books are taking almost a year? I like CGC, bust this becomes beyond frustrating.
