  1. How are 15 modern books received in 8/12 scheduled for grading?! super duper jelly!
  2. So basically they really don’t want to send my raw books back, they rather slab them all since they are there. That’s cool with me give them all 9.8+ and they can can all be slabbed! but I get it, that makes the most sense out of any other explanation I have heard. Thanks for responding.
  3. Hello, as the title says I’m just curious on why having books prescreened adds two weeks to the turnaround time. It goes through the same process, doesn’t it? If someone knows or has seen this question before. Please respond, Thanks!
  4. So I am reading this post months later and have no vested interest. But I am extremely curious on what the booster gold and nova came back as. I was hoping CGC wouldn’t be stingy with the 9.8s but getting back only 1 out of four with two others being a 9.6 makes me think maybe they were. Did the Nova and Booster not come back 9.8s and you just didn’t feel like hearing everyone’s opinion? I can understand, I’m glad your books came back.
  5. I’m so sick of checking and it doesn’t change. original quoted time was 18days +10 for prescreen (which i still don’t understand why prescreen adds 2 weeks to the wait) please enlighten me.
  6. Hello, I have noticed that in the past month the estimated turnaround times for modern books has jumped from 18days then 20, 25, and finally 32 days. In the current environment of Covid-19 heath concerns, can the current turnaround times be because of employees testing positive for Covid? Or the increased social distancing processes are causing delays? or Is it just because so many people are home and the submissions have exponentially increased. 2nd “question” (not really answerable, but I thought I would “ask” anyways. CGC is also growing and it would seem logical to be open 7 days a week like many other business. The 5 day business week is historically used for businesses that need to constantly deal with other businesses that also adhere to the 5 day week. That being said why is CGC only open 5 days a week? Being open on the weekend might attract additional part time workers and other comic grading professionals. It would also decrease the turnaround time that seems to be a constant issue people are concerned with. I don’t expect an actual answer and I apologize if any of this has been answered before. The main reason I am asking these questions is because I have people locally asking me if I know why the turnaround times have jumped, I know others on the forums would benefit from an explanation. This was written to try and give others some logical reasons why the times have jumped and stop assuming CGC just likes taking their time, which is absurd. I hope all is well at the facility and all the employees are safe. The most important thing is everyone’s health and keeping loved ones safe as well.
  7. No, you don’t have to, The system will tell them to look for it when grading the book.
  8. This is gonna get slammed if you submit it for grading. The book will look like a 9.8 or 9.6 from the front but will come back a 9.0 at best. I would grade it a 8.0. 5 years grading experience here, verified.
  9. Yes, this book will come back at a 9.0 or lower for sure.
  10. No this is from shipping and the book rubbing up against another book or the shipping box repeatedly. If he really got 60 copies with this type of damage he would have contacted Diamond about it and preformed a damaged book refund. i think he just didn’t even look at the books when he unpacked them and gave you the top copy (most likely to have the damage) but if he’s willing to give you another for free than that’s awesome since this book is selling for well over cover price.
  11. A bunch of venom 3 first prints have black lines on them from printing. The highest I have seen this book come back is a 9.0. that was after “SWIM” applied a white eraser solution to the affected area. Most of them come back 8.0 without it. I would be willing to buy it for $50 from you or I could get “the person” who removed the mark before to do it again for $20. BTW first post under new name. Hope everyone finds a way to get their favorite book and it comes back 9.9!
