  1. Can someone confirm with Miller that he never drew on craft tint?
  2. clink shows a pending sale at 45k. assuming that's correct someone must have taken one heck of a haircut! I am pretty conservative on pricing and, even to me, that feels like a pretty large steal to me at that price. I really liked the cover and decided early on to bid, but I wanted to spend some time and find out how much of this cover is actually Miller. I received the information I needed to make an informed decision to pass on this cover. There's always that too. Assuming it's all Miller it seems light. If it's not 100% him, passing was probably the wisest move. I thought this cover was by Frank Miller. Is there information to the contrary?
  3. This CAF intro is interesting: http://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryDetail.asp?GCat=46578 I don't agree with everything written, but it is true that newer collectors in this hobby should always have their guards up. There are some nice collectors and dealers in this hobby, but there are a lot of snakes out there that deal with OA too.
  4. The description makes the obligatory reference to the Daredevil #188 cover which sold for over $100K in the May 2010 Heritage auction. There is no mention however about the Daredevil #186 cover selling for $30K three months later in the August 2010 auction. Without taking values into consideration, I personally think this cover is superior to both of the recently publicly offered DD covers.
  5. Comic Link is offering the cover to DD 190 in it's November auction: http://www.comiclink.com/auctions/item.asp?back=%2FAuctions%2Fsearch%2Easp%3FPreviewCode%3D2011nov%26where%3Dauctions%26title%3Ddaredevil%2B190%26x%3D0%26y%3D0%26ItemType%3DCA%23Item_907277&id=907277 Looks like there will be a reserve.
  6. I don't collect high grades slabbed comics, so am just guessing here. I imagine many people collect the highest grade CGC books, in part for the the aesthetic appeal of a flawless collectible, and in part for the the pride of ownership of a rare item. There are other reasons for sure, but for the two reasons cited above, OA meets the rare item criteria, but not the flawless collectible criteria. Many collectors are transitioning to collecting OA, and yet the two areas of the hobby still seem almost unrelated.
  7. OA is such a small and specialized area of the hobby, while high grade slabs carry the day on these forums, at the cons, on ebay and at live auctions (at least in terms of volume if not value). To some of us, the original artwork that sold on ebay makes a lot more sense, but it is something that most high grade CGC collectors never would consider.
  8. $4K doesn't seem that crazy for the first appearance of a major character. I would take that over a copy of NM 98 any day, even if a 9.9 copy costs three times as much.
  9. That is so awesome! After I watched the movie, I had thoughts about surprising my wife with one for our den. But then I saw the pricetage, and decided mybe not at this time.
