  1. 1st question: Will they ever do an issue in color? This question popped up in the letters columns at some point and Kirkman said the book will always be in B&W. Kirkman also said in one of the recent letter columns that we'll be finding out more of the nature of the zombies over the upcoming months. Stuff like why some of the zombies appear really weak will be explained. I'd love to hear more about the "symptoms" of the zombies like this but hope he sticks to his guns and never gives a proper explanation of why the zombie outbreak happened. My question is will we ever see characters pontificating on why the zombie outbreak happened. I could see some cults forming around certain ideas and it could be fun to see the characters guessing about the nature of the world, kind of like how lots of people have different theories about life in the real world but not everything is explained. And damn, that four page ad spread is fricking sweet! -Bob
  2. The covers have been a bit since big head 49. Something about 58 stuck with me and I really dig it. The threat of the zombies is expressed really well with only two outstretched hands and knowing the history between 'Ham and Rick you're left wondering whether he's being saved from or fed to the zombies. The last issue was alright. It seems like they alternate between a slow paced talky and a fast moving action issue. Not a problem though as I love reading the book month to month and it's smooth sailing when re-reading in trade form. That two page splash was killer too! -Bob
  3. Oh man, issue 60 looks awesome! http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=19142 Return of Ultra -Bob
  4. Start with 0. It's mostly silliness but a few of the major plotlines are set up there. It's also worth it to see how Powell's art evolves. (thumbs u -Bob
  5. Kudos to jonjesper for some fantastic Mahnke art! I've never even read this stuff but the art's really nice. Maybe I should check out some DCs now -Bob
  6. I have a couple pages featuring the introduction of the Shapesmith (my favorite side character in the book). Here's the splash: -Bob

  11. A very cool interview with Robert Kirkman all about TWD on Comic Book Resources here He talks about the creative process and tells about some things he had planned on happening in the book but changed as the writing dictated. A couple notes on the future: Bob
  12. Just picked up this really cool piece of production art to Conan the Barbarian issue 22 page 2 from 1973 by Barry Windsor-Smith and Dan Adkins. For those unfamiliar with the story, half the original art to the story intended for publication in Conan 22 was lost in the mail and the editors chose to reprint the first issue in 22. They took high quality photostats of issue 1 and placed them on Marvel art board to use as the final pages. This happens to be a reprint of the very first Conan story page! I may be the only one terribly excited by this, but it's as close as I'll ever come to a BWS original and having it be the first story page is extra special for me -Bob
  13. Kudos to some great sellers over the past couple months: pirate for some fairly priced trades and hardcovers... especially for the Robert Kirkman zombie sketch johnenock for introducing me to new levels of comic deprevaty through a nicely priced run of The Exerminators and Fear Agent. comicdey for a nicely graded run of early GI Joes at a killer price and other odds and ends. Bomb proof packaging and fast shipping to boot! joeypost for finding some Transformers related comics for me at a very nice price! and a big, long overdue shout out for: DoubleCovaBrotha for going the extra mile on getting me a copy of Absolute Sandman Vol. 2. When the first copy had some misfortune at the post office, he went out of his way to order a new one for me and wouldn't accept extra payment for the effort. Great guy! Thanks all, -Bob
  14. We're not going to be able to Splashpage read this new issue are we
  15. The white feels more "open" somehow but I feel more drawn into the details of the piece (like the mouse's ear) with the black frame. I'll be the dissenting opinion and vote black Nice page btw! -Bob
  16. for Conan! I just picked up this great Barry Smith page last night: Before you get too excited, know that this isn't original art from Conan #1, but rather original production art from Conan #22, which reprinted Conan #1. The story goes that Conan #22 had been solicited and the cover was at the printers when half of the original art pages were lost in the mail. The Conan editors were left in a bind and instead of whipping out some quick material, they decided to reprint Conan #1. To do this, they pasted high quality photostats of issue #1 on art boards and changed the bottom text here and there. A lot of these photostat pages were recently up on eBay and I lucked into getting this one. This is the second page of the book, which happens to be the first story page (the first page was a pinup) with a very badass intro to our favorite Cimmerian. This is probably the closest I'll ever come to owning a real BWS page and it'll look great in a frame! -Bob

  19. No joke! Could we possibly break it up into a section of active board members, a section of quasi-active board members, and a section of people we haven't heard from in a long while? -Bob
  20. Hey Chris, Nice Tony Moore! Are the art slabs the same thickness as a standard slab? -Bob
  21. A few ghosts for me: - You're probably sick of reading about this if you've paid attention to any of my posts on this forum, but the remaining color art to the New Mutants Graphic Novel by Glynis Wein. I picked up 29 of the 47 pages from Fanfare, but even Tom Fleming had no idea where the remaining pages are. Glynis may still have them so if anyone has contact information for her, I would greatly appreciate it. - Original cover to Transformers #13 by (I believe) Herb Trimpe. - Original cover art to Star Wars: Dark Empire by Dave Dorman. They're reportedly in the possession of one G. Lucas, so I'm probably out of luck -Bob
  22. The best part of this thread was when Anfield called SJ a muppet. I'm still laughing about it however many days later -Bob
  23. OK, there really must be some prior problems because I don't see SJ3000 deserving all this just from this transaction. This is what I see as SJ's 1st post in Anfield's thread: Unless this post was edited, this post makes it clear that a PM deal was involved. The offer may have been cheap, but this post makes it pretty clear that he's not willing to pay full price. If this post was edited after the fact to add the per PM clause, then that's pretty bad form, but it doesn't appear to be edited. Also, SJ only posted once more in the thread, and that was to indicate he screwed up and to say the books were still available. I don't see any hijacking here Really, what's the big deal? The guy screwed up and said he was sorry. Unless this is repeated behavior of backing out of deals, why the need for the curb stomp in this thread? -Bob
  24. Kudos to mikeyriffhard for a couple more perfect transactions! I'm really loving the Spirit and EC Archives - very fun stuff! -Bob
