  1. Thank you both. I wanted to submit this more as a test of my skills with restoration rather than money. I like restored books I think the stigma will die down eventually. I’ve been snatching up restored books for a steal to try and improve them before submitting. Hoping for the A quality designation and VF plus slabs. Crossing my fingers on this one.
  2. Thank you for the information. It was purchased as a fine. I did some dry cleaning and pressing. Restored is a slight amount of color touch top right and bottom right corners. Cover was reglossed using methyl cellulose. No tear seals or anything of that nature. Hope that helps.
  3. Hi all I really appreciate the help. I’m an amateur restorer of comics. Attached are some photos of my recent project. I know it’s taboo to restore but I actually like it and only work on certain books. Usually those that have restoration to start with. In any case was hoping to get an accurate grade on this one. I was thinking of submitting with notes to detail everything I did. Look forward to the community’s opinion on grade. Thank you!
  4. Wow I would be beyond happy with that grade. Do you think it can get there with that sort of crunch on the top front cover. It’s in the middle. Appreciate your help. You were spot on with the last book I sent in and really appreciate the guidance.
  5. Grade in thanks so much for your help. Came out amazing, 9.6 White Pages
  6. Sending this book with the Batman 457 to CGC for grading. Is this a contender, does that pushed in staple affect the grade? Look forward to hearing your thoughts. Thank you very much.
  7. Thanks so much for the response. Anything over 9.2 I was definitely going to send. This one is actually a 2nd print newsstand. It’s rarer than the newsstand only version. I think there are 6 versions of this book. Direct, direct error, newsstand, newsstand error, 2nd print direct, 2nd print newsstand. Do you think it’s could possibly hit a 9.6?
  8. Thank you to the best graders around. Can you please let me know your thoughts on this one. I’m almost positive I’d like to send this for grading and look forward to hearing your predictions.
  9. Definitely more books coming. I plan to use this post for any book before I send it in for grading.
  10. Thank you again to all for commenting. The consensus was on point and the book received a 9.6 white. Here are pics from the CGC site. Haven’t received the book in hand yet, just wanted to share as soon as I knew. Look forward to posting more books for you all to consider. Hope everyone is having a great week.
  11. Thanks again to all. If I grade which I kind of want to just given how fun this is, do I post a reply to this thread?
  12. Thank you all. This has been extremely helpful.
  13. Very interesting, I would never consider the effect of volume on grading. It does have bindery tears and the front edge has that jagged manufacturing cut.
  14. Lol thank you! Out of curiosity what takes a book down from 9.8 to 9.6 usually and what for this book. To me it feels arbitrary between 9.6 and 9.8
  15. Hi all new to the forum and so happy there’s a resource like this. I think PGM means please grade my. I’m a terrible grader, awful really. Books that I think are 9.8 contenders get 9.4s. Like I think this is a contender but really look forward to hearing the community’s thoughts. Thank you in advance.
