Anybody pick up anything from the Cloud 9 collection? I’m debating a couple books but the shipping to Canada is astronomical 😭
I got 3 books from Ken (waiting to receive them soon): however many of them were in the low grades, so I picked up a very rare one, plus other two.
I'll post them as soon as they're in my hands

Picked up some great books today.
A little dirty, but can be dry cleaned. super flat and crisp.Maybe a 9.0 - 9.2?
Once again a little dirty, but can be dry cleaned. An 8.0 - 8.5, if pressed and cleaned maybe higher.
Almost flawless for this old of a book. I would say a 9.4.
Will send these out next year to get graded.
Very nice ones!!! Well done!
Sure you want to grade them? They have so nice stories inside that I would love to read again and again...

Well, interesting story.
More details here:

Apparently it was not published, probably because Whitman's license was acquired by Gladstone in that period.
Something about it in French:

Large Feature 16 2.5 ended at 2880$ on Heritage, I tried but I couldn’t bring myself to pay that much for such a soiled copy. The wait continues…
Too much for that copy (ugly at my eyes)... not a good time to buy Disney's on HA, prices are getting crazy in the last 6 months. I'll quit HA for a while, waiting for "normal/human/reasonable" prices.
I have to show you mine, paid much much less just 3 years ago...

Wow just noticed the hammer on the FC 16 3.5 at 9000$ Bought a 2.5 last year for 1500$. Maybe I should start a ''Show us your Mice!'' thread
.. and just a year ago I missed a 4.0 sold at 2,4K... as always the Platinum Session is not the place to save money. Sunday's auctions are much better...

It’s a 9.8?!?!
Probably another 50k+ worth item. We can enjoy the show (nice auction, to be said).

Maybe already discussed, but I noticed that at least 2 issues of WDCS have a "star" on cover: 1 & 5. I found relevant photos around the web.
Anybody able to explain the purpose of the "star"? Maybe copies for former MMM subscribers?
It could be classified as a "variant"!

The Price Guide states that five copies of the Complimentary Copy of WDCS #4 are known, making it the rarest duck book known. The Price Guide lists it at about a 50% premium to a regular copy of WDCS #4. Some people think it is worth less, some people think it is worth more, what do you think? I thought it would be interesting to see what a you think as most of you are active collectors.
A friend of mine has the CGC 4.5, but he has all the WDCS plus everything about Disney that is on Overstreet (as he said once, Overstreet 2003). Nice copy to add if you have all the others, indeed. It's certaintly something that would sell quite high on HA or at other auctions houses.

Well, the final price will be in the order of 4k I guess, but the copy is under CGC slab since 2010: I'm rather suspicious of the real conditions after 11y. I read the slab can slightly damage the comic when it has already some defects and some comics "regraded" after a few years, were downgraded by CGC (apparently CGC was larger in grading a few years ago). I buy CGC only if within the last 5y (although I prefer no-slabbed copies, to be able to read them).

I wanted to, just didn’t know where it fit. It’s not technically a comic book, more of a storybook with pictures.
Well, if you're listing "key list of Duck books", then you cannot miss it. If you go only for comic books, then skip it

Well that back cover image on MMM looks to be the theatrical poster for Mr. Duck Steps Out which is Daisy's first animated appearance (June 1940) so this has to be her first comic appearance (August 1940) but I’m assuming since it’s an ad and not an original strip it doesn’t count? Sorta like the Action 1 preview in MFC 31...
I think you're right... usually the strip counts, while the solo image is not "generally" considered. However, for the sake of completeness, this appearance of Daisy should be mentioned as well. Here my copy of LF16 (one of my favourite):

Why is Large Feature 16 considered Daisy’s first appearance when MMM vol 5 #11 has her on the back cover also and it came out 3-4 months earlier?
Indeed that info is not correct: LF16 is first appearance of Daisy strip on a comic album. The one on MMM is probably the first image (although it may have been extracted from a strip), unless she's in previous MMM (to be carefully checked).

I just started to collect a few numbers of this wonderful "magazine". Covers are great, content varies a lot between beginning and end. What is, in your opinion, the best cover and the best one in terms of content?
For me the VOL1 n.8 is the nicest cover, where DD shows all his strenght! See my copy below:

yes, last one was sold for 450$ in August, a pretty nice copy!
