  1. Two of the packages I'm having issues with were shipped to Portland...
  2. But unless I'm reading this wrong, that's how eBay is supposed to work. If the current winning bid was $856, that bidder could have bid all the way up to $866 - eBay will only reflect the max winning bid. So unless some one comes in and bids higher than $856, the current high bidder wins at the current leading bid (even though their max could be higher). So the $856 bidder likely set a max bid higher, but your snipe bid was just enough to outbid their max...
  3. I've had this before, and recently too. I don't use sniping services, but I do often wait until about 2- seconds left and I have pretty fast internet. I was bidding on something that didn't seem to be heavily watched, and it didn't have the typical 20-second/10-second pattern I usually see on a last-minute auction. It was a small-money item, but it went from $27ish at 3 seconds to me winning with my max bid of $42ish just a second later. But it happens sometimes. For what it's worth, I bid on a couple of other similar items from the same seller and came out on the losing end. Usually I find it's someone bidding at a mark, like 1-minute/30-seconds/20-seconds, and they just put in a higher max bid than I did (or when I win, they just put in a slightly lower max bid than mine).
  4. Moved up from a 3rd print #2 to a (very low grade) 2nd print today at a show. Had a lot of TMNT luck lately!
  5. Couple of pickups at the Madison MightyCon today (also, nice to meet you @manetteska, thanks again!)
  6. For now, that's likely true. But what you're saying is not necessarily an indicator of future success or failure if the character takes off at the same level as Miles or Wade (not saying he will). I'd contend it's not "stupid logic;" I'd say it's just too early to tell at this point. I also wouldn't put all my eggs in the Spider-Boy basket, but I bought a few copies at pre-order and sold some to cover my costs, so I'm covered on my end anyway. It'd be great if the character takes off, and I don't think you can quite write him off yet.
  7. One bullseye but 12 points has to be some kind of (horrible) record... Edit to add - thank you once again, @CGC Mike!!
  8. Thank God I wasn't the only person who missed that crease... Silver Surfer #10 - 8.0 X-Men #87 - 9.4 Jungle Action #21 - 9.0 Web of Spidey #51 - 9.6 Y: The Last Man #1 - 8.5
  9. Oh wow, it really did! I was joking - Welz really must have bought a bunch of those glasses and stuck them in the books! So, it could be argued those are the "original" glasses...
  10. Great looking copies! Hope you got those gorilla glasses with #11...
  11. I'm sure we've all heard people say "tell everyone you know that you collect comics" - the idea being that they'll be on the lookout and send potential deals your way. But it's never actually paid off for me much until now. Yesterday morning, my aunt apparently called my dad and told him there was a garage sale near her and they had comics, and he should check it out because "maybe Jesse would be interested" because I had talked to her about the hobby recently. So Dad went, and he called me while he was at the garage sale, and he said, "they have a bunch of stacks of comic books here, and they're $1 each. Do you want any of these?" And he started reading off books to me on the phone. Here's what he ultimately grabbed for me, at $1 apiece:
  12. Thanks, I got lucky with it here on the boards. It sat for a bit too, I was sure I had blown my chance (was moving some funds around and waiting on some sales proceeds). My thinking is like yours but in reverse - I thought, I just laid down a decent (for me) chunk of change on this 3rd print, should I really be spending another almost $150 on another reprint? But I think these 40th anniversary reprints - at least the one from Rich for my taste - are cool on a lot of levels, and it's apparent that a lot of work went into making them happen. So I couldn't pass on it.
  13. I did! I actually meant to say something to you the other day, I was the one who made the lame joke on your House of Mystery book (about the wrong fonts/grammar from the ghoul on the cover...). I didn't even realize it was you I was responding to until well after the fact.
  14. I'll have to settle for this reprint I got in the mail today while I wait for my Rich reprint... - really excited to add this to the collection!!
  15. So excited I've finally got this in the collection - thanks, @StingerMcK!
  16. Oh, right, that's what I meant - I just didn't say it very clearly... I meant it was probably just a small overall amount that the Con had for sale, as opposed to the other copies that will be available elsewhere.
  17. When BeardedBubba first posted the link last night, it said there were "20 left in stock" on the red cover and I think 100 or 120 in stock on the black and white cover. So it appeared from that like a limited drop for that particular sale.
  18. Wow, really? I live in a small town, so I will say that our post office service is actually really good, and I don't think my recent postal issues lie with them at all but with a broader apparent USPS issue. Are you in a larger, hub-type area? Or is it just their policy? I've definitely had our local office hold stuff for me for pickup.
  19. Maybe not many, but also maybe at least one?? Not the genre in question, but still an interesting read: https://bleedingcool.com/comics/zodiac-and-the-tim-holt-30-death-wheel-connection-up-for-auction/
