  1. Sometimes a pressing will help hide spine tics from the human eye and make the book look like a pristine 9.8.

    But then when the comic gets squeezed into that inner well during encapsulation, the pressure can cause those spine tics to reappear and become much more noticeable. The way a book is handled during encapsulation could possibly even cause non-color breaking spine tics to turn into color-breaking spine tics.

    Not saying that's what happened here, but I've seen examples of it from my own experiences.
