back atcha J. We've done quite a few deals back and forth lately! All good! :acclaim:

  2. I'm going from memory here, but I think AlleyBat scammed Vtcomics for a Batman #1. It wasn't that long ago and I'm certain all the glory from those threads is still attainable. I think the scammer guy worked at the Cleveland Clinic, in Ohio, a very well-respected place. But the scammer wasn't thinking straight and Vtcomics received his package without the book (he opened it in the post office) and had the postmaster as a witness.

And then, good ol' AlleyBat became belligerent and returned to the boards after the jig was up and was seemingly ready to fight anyone. It was quite surreal.

Then, if I'm not mistaken, a lawyer from the boards (esquirecomics ) arrived on the scene and ultimately helped give AlleyBat some legal medicine. I don't know if it's been fully resolved, but I seem to remember Vtcomics getting some results from the legal system.

And Vtcomics also caught some grief from a few folks here on the boards for not having his radar up because this guy kinda came in out of nowhere and perpetrated what he did in a way that seemed obvious to some.

I wasn't so sure but who can deny that the wolves sometimes come in sheep's clothing...so it's wise as a serpent and gentle as a dove, or else. And I defer to anyone who might correct my stream-of-consciousness memory of these events that transpired not too long ago.

Yep, that's fairly accurate. There were a couple other board members in Cleveland that helped alleybat come to his senses, and my bank also stepped in and helped out, as did the postal inspectors. And of course Mark Zaid. :acclaim: Remember; if it's too good to be true.... :preach:

  3. So this will be cross posted, so I do apologize. I also apologize for the photo quality. I just found out today that my digital camera is broken, as well as my scanner. I'll be getting a new cam (and maybe a scanner) once I get my tax return.

First, Shield Wizard #1! Very exciting, CGC 4.5

And next, Superman #2, CGC 4.0. This book excites me almost as much as my Archie 1.

  4. Can someone fill me in on what happened to gilberto? I did a big trade with him last year and it went off ok.....just curious what happened after that to get him in trouble?? (shrug)
Several people paid for books that they never recieved.

Ouch! :tonofbricks: I was insistent he send me ALL the books involved in our trade before I would ship him anything back. Good thing!

  5.

Needs a list of his own:

    AlleyBat

    (added 5/23/08)

    $4000.00 scam!!! :sumo:

I met alleybat at MegaCon. What a teeny tiny scrawny weaselly excuse of a man.

    :o

Did he actually come out and tell you who he was? Or had you known him prior to the big scam? In any event: WOW.

He was shopping around the same PLOD Batman 1. Funny thing is that he made more money on the book than he scammed it for here.

Amazing that you can make more money being honest than by being a scammer huh?

    :news:

Dang I wish I could have been there. Although it might have been fodder for a new episode of the First 48.......

  6. Maybe it's possible that Penny removed himself from the PM thread, kind of like what he did to me last week, when he PMed me asking a question and I took time out of my family vacation to answer him and he removed himself from the thread 52 minutes later. I spent half an hour formulating a response from my Iphone and by the time I hit the submit button he was gone.

Don't ever waste my time like that again Bro.

    Jim

    He does everyone that way.
