  1. Congratulations to Darthdiesel Earned 2008 Best Modern Age Sets. http://www.cgccomics.com/news/viewarticle.asp?IDArticle=1077 Way to go Carl. Marvel 30 Cent Price Variants 30 cent price variants in high grade are a difficult thing to come by. Perhaps it is because Darthdiesel has already found so many of them. This is an exemplary collection of the many different books that went through the 30 cent price variant experiment. There are a few books missing and some lower grades on some issues, but to have so many of the books in this set certified in such high grade is remarkable
  2. And X-Men Annuals do not get any Nicer than this....
  3. Another Neat Wolverine Cover and Mark Jewelers to boot
  4. I can't believe this thread slipped to page 11. Here are some neat books I just received. First some X-Men goodness. I am always interested in X-Men double covers if anyone has an extra laying around.
  5. I apologize for the long quote, but I have an update on this situation. I am also curious how this worked out for Joe. Anyway, I won three auctions from this seller. Like Joe, I sent a check because he did not take paypal. I emailed him and told him that there was discussion on this site about him manufacturing double cover comics. After several emails in which he denied manufacturing double covers, he said that he would refund the money since he was going to send the books to CGC to assure authenticity. After repeated questions and promises of the refund, and mounting negative feedbacks on his account, his ebay account was pulled. I gave up on the refund. And moved on. Today, after many months, I received a package from this seller. He sent a postal money order with the full refund amount and a note of apology on the double covers. He also sent two bonus variant books. Apology accepted. I hope things worked out for Gijoed.
  6. Nice book. I don't know why CGC didn't note "Wildcat working on a "Trophy Log"" If you know what I mean....
  7. Very light stain I missed plopped a 9.4 to an 8.0 we need a pooping gramelin Try this
  8. Yes Cosmic, I received Kid Colt 206 and 207 in the mail yesterday which completed my 30 cent variant set. Thanks Glenn. Kid Colt 208, Ringo Kid 28 and Rawhide Kid 134 were the balance of the last five, and fortunately all came up at the same time after almost two years of searching. I want to thank Harry, Darth, FlyingDonut, Metarog and Glenn in particular for helping me complete the set. Also Cosmic (Terry) is a real standup guy as he was willing to send me his KC 206 to complete the set.
  9. For those of you who are looking for information on Marvel 35 cent variants, Stlcomics has updated its Marvel 35 cent Variant Cover Guide with a Rarity Guide. Here is the link, http://stlcomics.com/gallery/35cent/
  10. I believe that picture was lifted from this auction http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320223537156 Seller saw that copy sell for $60+ and figured the picture and description must have been the key to the bucks. I won an auction for a Daredevil 35 cent variant for the minimum bid of $2. The book was gorgeous and the book would have completed my 35 cent Daredevil set. Of course, when it arrived after $6 more dollars in shipping, it was 30 cent beater. I asked the seller what she was going to do about it. She said she didn't know how it happened and didn't realize the picture was of a 35 cent variant but she would be willing to give me a refund on the cost of the book if I sent it back to her in the same condition. I asked her if she was offering a refund of $2 or if she was offering $8 and she confirmed that she was offering $2. I explained that it would cost me more than $2 to send it back to her and her response was, "yeah, it probably would." I filed dispute for item not as described and negged her. She was NARU'd shortly thereafter.
  11. Thanks for the link, Greg. Good list.
  12. While I agree with Joe that a double-cover is pretty cool "in action". The whole deal with the thanos*titans fakes should answer the question of purpose, in regards to a CGC label.
  13. Update: The bank charges on the stop payment check are more than $20and stop payment is only guaranteed if three days in advance. I sent him a note to thanos*titans asking him to destroy the check if the books are not legit as it will save us both a lot of aggravation. My assumption is that the books are fakes like Joes. I will keep you posted. So far I have not heard back and the check has not been cashed.
  14. Also, in regards to Marvel 30 cent variants, it is nice that Overstreet has priced every book in 9.2. Here is the current list of 30 centers that have no examples certified in 9.2. Some excellent clues to rarity here, I think. Find one of these and it will go multiples of guide. Avengers 14 (one in 9.0) Captain Marvel 44 (one in 9.0) Chamber of Chills 22 (two in 8.5) Chamber of Chills 23 (three in 9.0) Jungle Action 21 (one in 9.0) Kid Colt Outlaw 205 (one in 9.0) Kid Colt Outlaw 206 (one in 9.0) Kid Colt Outlaw 207 (one in 8.5) Kid Colt Outlaw 208 (one in 9.0) Kid Colt Outlaw 209 (two in 8.5) Marvel Adventures 3 (one in 8.5) Marvel Adventues 4 (one in 8.0)!!!! Marvel Double Feature 17 (one in 8.0)!!!! Marvel Super-Heroes 57 (two in 8.5) Marvel Super-Heroes 58 (one in 9.0) Marvel Tales 66 (one in 7.0)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Marvel Tales 69 (one in 9.0) Mighty Marvel Western 45 (one in 9.0) Rawhide Kid 133 (one in 9.0) Rawhide Kid 134 (one in 7.5)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ringo Kid 28 (two in 8.0) Tomb of Darkness 21 (one in 8.5) Tomb of Dracula 44 (four in 9.0) Two-Gun Kid 130 (two in 8.0) Two-Gun Kid 131 (one in 7.0)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Weird Wonder Tales 15 (one in 7.5) !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (and I would buy 9.2s all day for $27.) Actually, if anyone has a 1.0, I will buy it for $27. By the way, if you want additional information on variants, stlcomics.com is a great site.
  15. FD, Thanks for posting the information. My conclusion is that the Overstreet editors are trying to accumulate a set and stocked up on Conan 30 center for trade bait. I think I overheard Robert at a recent show, "I'll trade you one of my $50 Conans for one of your common Chamber of Chills, Mighty Marvel Western, Rawhide Kid, Ringo Kid, Sgt. Fury, Tomb of Darkness, Two-Gun Kid, or your Weird Wonder Tales 15 (27 bucks ). You don't have any of those? OK. What the hey. How about any Daredevils? Ironman 89?..." Seriously, it appears that with almost a 30% increase this year for the series, that Overstreet is starting to recognize the market, but they adjust prices slowly. Donut, they must be starting to listen to you. Also, I am missing a couple of Kid Colts and will pay FULL Guide for NM copies. 206 and 207. Can anyone help me out?
  16. I need some advice on this. I bought three books from this dude, fortunately not ones that GIJoed wanted, total $50. I have mailed him a check. Should I 1. Stop payment on the check immediately and write the knucklehead that I have done so? 2. Send him a message that he has been exposed and ask him not to cash the check or send the books if they are not legit? 3. Or something else?
  17. Just got a couple of neat books back from CGC.
