I think the group is being a bit sarcastic... obviously they have to grade each one individually. No one would submit cards to a company that slaps a label on randomly based on the top cards condition

It's cool. I've seen posts on here from a couple new people who wanted to start using CGC and I didn't want them to read this thread and get the impression that that's what CGC actually does.

Wait, that's a real thing? They don't grade each card individually?

I sent off 12 copies of a card to get graded with sub-grades. Every single card was graded individually. I don't know where the others are getting their info from, but I've already done this myself so I know that without a doubt that they grade them individually.

To a certain extent, yes. It needs to be dialed back when it becomes ridiculous. "Moderation" being the key theme. There's nothing "moderate" about psychos wanting to "grade" a sealed package, that contains more packages, that then contain the actual products.

Wanna collect sealed packages? Go ahead. I'll turn the other cheek. Wanna "grade" them? GTFO.

I know some of the original sealed Pokemon booster boxes have sold in excess of over $100,000 recently so it's not that crazy imo. "Grading" might be a bit tough for a booster box (especially an old one), but I could see it happening. I think what would be better (especially for older booster boxes) is for them to at least be authenticated. At least in the Pokemon community, it's not unheard of for there to be counterfeit booster boxes, especially for the older more valuable ones. It sucks but it does happen.

Looking like CGC is getting backlogged. i send 9 bulk submissions the last month and tracking says received but does not look like they are in the CGC system for approx 7 days or more.   The first submission got logged into their system in 1 day.  the 2nd in 5 days.... nothing yet on my 3-9th submissions.  Hoping for the best.   PLEASE CGC,  stay close to the turnaround times  that is one of my most deciding factor on using CGC over the other companies. (i currently still use other major grading companies and waiting for CGC to do sports cards).

That could only be for bulk/economy submissions though. My shipment at the Standard tier was processed next business day and took less than two weeks to grade and ship out. I'll be getting my graded cards back next week.

    Nice cards tho. :)

Thanks! CGC is really tough on grading so to me CGC 9.5s are equal to a PSA 10.

I bought them as an investment and I plan on using the money that I sell them for to send off a bulk submission to them as well as start my own business.

    I'm quite happy :)

Awesome! upload some pics, I will put some of mine, I got to get me some semi-rigid sleeves and I think I will send them on Monday.

Just made a post on here about my cards as my grades finally came in today! They received them last Monday and they were shipped out today. Less than two weeks for Standard grading with sub-grades. Not bad at all! I should be getting them in the mail early next week :)

  7. My first ever submission to CGC has finally completed and as of this morning my grades are finally in! I decided to send off a dozen Pokemon cards at the Standard Tier with sub-grades. I only sent off my best cards to them, but I knew that they was going to be very tough. They received them last Monday and now my grades are in.

The cards that I sent off were 12 copies of the Japanese promo card, Shibuya's Pikachu. I had originally ordered a lot of them from Japan back in the summer when prices were still somewhat cheap and I decided to sell off any that I didn't think would have a chance of getting a CGC 10. The remaining 12 I sent off to CGC. I could have packaged them a little better than I did (didn't have enough penny sleeves at the time, noob mistake I know) so that affected the surface grades on a couple of them I believe. Anyways, let's get into it!

Side note: The cards all say that they're Sword and Shield Promo cards on the label and I don't think that's totally accurate. There's only been one other seller to sell these on eBay and their's simply said "S-P Promotional Cards". None of their's had sub-grades on them though so for the time being, I think these are the only CGC graded Shibuya's Pikachu cards in the world that have sub-grades. I don't even think BGS has graded any of these yet either.

Also, sorry about the quality of the images. The website wouldn't let me simply download the scanned images so I just had to take screenshots.

First up, starting with the worst!

I'm pretty sure that this is one of like two that I sent in a premium card sleeve without putting it in a penny sleeve first thus I feel it deserved it's grade. I sent in a couple in premium card sleeves inside of Card Saver 1s and I think this was one of them. It was in better condition when I sent it off though for sure. Oh well, you win some you lose some.

Next up we have two Mint 9's!

    I'm happy about these.

    Next we have not 1, not 2, not 3, not 4, not 5, not 6, not 7, but 8 Gem Mint 9.5s!

    A true 9.5 Gem Mint.

So that's it for the 9.5 Gem Mints. I'm very happy with those.

Of course... I saved the best for last.

    The Pristine 10!

    image.thumb.png.61166dc1b811a8519b9a7f768ad68539.png

I'm a little bummed that I didn't get at least one Perfect 10 like I was hoping for, but I knew going into it that they were going to be very tough on grading.

Takeaway: Just because a card seems perfect, doesn't mean that it'll get a 10, at least not at CGC.

    Overall out of 12 cards I got an 8, two 9s, eight 9.5s, and a Pristine 10.

    I'm pretty happy overall!

I should be getting them in the mail next week!

    Best wishes,

    Fearless

    Hello,

I sent in my first submission of Pokemon cards, and I received a fedex notifcation that they were delivered today. I went extra for walkthrough and express, but I forgot to put it on the outside of the box. Any idea on how long it would normally take for them to open that box and realize it is a walkthrough?

    Thank you!

    -Chris

They received my first ever submission on October 23rd and they showed as received by CGC in their system on October 26th as the 24th and 25th was a weekend and they're closed on weekends. So for me, it was next business day when it got processed.

It should be in their system either tomorrow or Friday. If you don't see it in there by Friday, you can always call them (or message them) and ask.

    May high grades await you,

    Fearless

Hello, new guy here, I was thinking to get my jumbo cards from Pokemon graded, is this coming soon or is not even on the radar.

I am sending my first batch of Pokemon cards soon, I have never use a grading service but CGC caught my attention, can't wait to see my collection graded!

    Master Alarcon.

I haven't heard anything about it, but I think it'd be awesome. If they do it, it might be awhile since it would require different sized slabs than what they currently use.

I'd personally also like to see them add a pop report (they said it will be coming sometime in the future) as well as adding Yu-Gi-Oh card grading.

Side note: Best of luck with getting your cards graded. I hope you get some awesome grades. I'd never sent off any of my cards for grading anywhere before either and I just sent them my first ever batch of cards last week. I should be getting them back in about a month :)

Hey! I've submitted 2 bulk submission so far (one for 55 cards and the other for 66 cards) and both were received at CGC, graded, and shipped back to me in less than 30 calendar days. I request registered mail for returns so it takes about another week after CGC ships it for it to finally be delivered. Total time I would expect for bulk submissions is 5 calendar days to ship out and be received by CGC, about 30 calendar days to grade and ship back to you, and another 5 calendar days to get returned, for a total wait time of 40 calendar days is what I would expect for bulk orders as of right now. I hope that helps. - Mind you the times might be different the larger the bulk submissions, and depending on how difficult the cards are to grade.

I have also used their Express and Economy tiers and their timelines are pretty spot on so far, if not much faster.  My express for 5 cards was received, graded, and shipped back within 9 calendar days and my economy took 30 calendar days for 10 cards to be received, graded, and shipped back.

    -Poke Rogue

Thanks for sharing! That's awesome to hear!

My first submission that was received by them Monday is a 12 card submission at the Standard tier (20 working days) so I'm expecting with return shipping to have them back by the end of November/beginning of December. I figured I'd pay the extra $5 a card for the Standard tier as I figured that most submissions were at the Economy tier and if some of the people who submitted at the Economy tier got their cards back within a calendar month that maybe I'd get mine back maybe even sooner lol.

I'm not counting on getting them back before Black Friday, but it'd be nice as I plan on selling them and then using some of that money to send off a bulk submission to them of maybe 50-70 cards.

  11. I sent off my first ever submission of Pokemon cards to CGC last week and I'm excited to get them back. I personally decided to pay a little more and went with the standard tier in hopes of maybe getting them back before Black Friday. I know that the turnaround times are estimated, but I've heard people say that CGC is really good with their turnaround times and I've even heard of a couple people getting them back within a calendar month with bulk/economy submissions.

What was your experience like with submission turnaround times for trading cards?

  12. It seems like CGC is quite a bit stricter when it comes to grading than PSA. I'd say they're around the level of BGS as far as being strict with grading.

That said, the first thing that stuck out to me is that this card is a bit off-center both on the front and back. So centering might get a 5 or a 6?

For the corners, I see a little bit of whitening on at least two of them so the corners might get around a 7 or an 8.

For the edges, I see a little bit of whitening around the edges so maybe around a 7.

For surface, it's really hard to tell, but I see a little something on the top backside of it. It's an old card so it wouldn't surprise me if if had tiny scratches or other blemishes on it. I'd say surface might get a 7.

Overall, I think this card would get somewhere around a 6.5. If it got an 8 or above, I'd be very surprised.

The smallest things seems to greatly affect grading with CGC due to how strict they are.

Of course, I could be completely wrong, but that's my best educated guess.
