  1. I absolutely tried to offer a reasonable amount for the books but honestly greed is a ugly thing I was more then willing  to pay $200 for the book but i was told it was going under $300 that was the fair price i have the email so dont demonize me for not being willing to pay 5xs the actual value i am not rich i am a faithful follower of sam keith if i was rich i would not care but i work hard for my money and think $200 was more than fair sorry if you do not agree but this is a very niche small comic with barely any worth except to us true fans and like i said i am not rich and work hard

  2. I saw the blue ashcan #2 on obay for $400 No wonder nobody buys these from ebay, these ppl think they can charge 10x what it is worth a beat up blue #1 is on right now for $119! Hahaha i dont think I would pay $20 for it. I offered someone on here $175 for a red #1 he told me he wanted $350 i laughed it was in fair shape rough no slab, i saw he sold it $140 on ebay . Ppl get to greedy with these, like I said before they are very rare but there is a very small demand. I would pay $300-$3000 for a black or yellow but not red or blue. I dont know where these ppl got these outrageous prices but be ready to hold those for a few years or forever because the blue and reds will never be worth $300 a piece.

  3. I found a blue #2 and a red #1 got them both for $225 the ones on ebay are ridiculous. I understand that they are rare but not a single one has sold in months. Maybe the high prices are not justified since it seems there is a very low demand for these. Anyone who wants them I would recommend going to flea markets and comicbook shops. I found mine at a local flea market.

I'll add the rider, if you manage to get a set for less than 8 grand, let me know

If I could find a whole set for 8k i would buy it right now. Im sure it will cost more but i cant justify spending over 1k on just one version. Who knows maybe if I am close to completuon and need one more to complete it I would but yea, looking is all of the fun of doing this.

Hey Jimmy. You are taking on a very daunting task. It took me 13 years to complete a set, and a lot of luck. 3k does seem like a lot, but the yellows are pretty rare, I think I've seen more blacks come up than the yellows. The yellows on ebay right now are high grade as well. It became kind of a passion to collect the set so if I needed one of those I would be tempted to pay that price because you might not see another yellow for years. Like Ike said, getting to a full set is going to cost you thousands due to the yellows and blacks. I've got some duplicates, mostly blue but there might be another color in there. I'll dig mine out and see what I've got but no guarantees it will be anything you need.

I do wish you luck, it was a fun journey for me. Have a lot of patience and be ready to spend some money.

    Ok thanks.

    Pretty ambitious of you.

Id do my homework, start by reading this entire thread, the do a board search for maxx black ashcan.

After talking around, there are 5 definite sets and perhaps up to two more, and that's it. Out of a possible 50 sets that exist, after 30 some odd years, thats all that has been documented.

5 complete sets, a possible one other.

Good luck, I think I've seen more wizard red test prints come to light than this ashcan set

If it takes me 20 years the so be it, I have the patience. I will definitely post my progress on here.
