  1. “…and, somewhere in the deep vastness of outer space, an incredible figure hurtles thru the cosmos--! A being whom we shall call the SILVER SURFER…”
  2. I don't like the mylars because they leave large dogears at the corners. BCWs are too loose, so you don't get a wrinkle free fit. These are perfect: Superior Fit Sleeves for CGC Graded Comic Book Slabs
  3. "Speak my name!" "SHAZAM!" "As Billy speaks the magic word, he becomes Captain Marvel!"
  4. I'd love to give a lengthy answer, but this thread is getting hijacked. I will answer at a point when I get more info. Thanks for the interest!
  5. I collect slabbed pages so I/others can actually see the sentinel moments in a character's storyline. I personally prefer this over seeing the cover of a comic.
  6. I have over 40 slabbed pages so far. At some point, I think I'll start a thread of the most monumental pages to have. There of course will be many different opinions. Bit by bit I will also add pics to other threads, or begin some myself. I have not slabbed any myself, although I have purchased some unslabbed and very low grade slabbed comics to eventually page out. I haven't done so yet, mainly because I'm not clear how I'm going to separate the pages. I haven't received a clear answer from CGC whether or not cutting a page at the spine would be considered trimmed or not. There are good arguments for either answer. The comics I will page out are either coverless, or cgc qualified 1.0 or less, or cgc 0.5. There's a lot of dissenting opinion about page slabbing. To each his own. Personally, I'm not collecting any other way.
  7. Back of page 2, front of page 3: “… Dr. Bruce Banner is bathed in the full force of the mysterious gamma rays! The world seems to stand still, trembling on the brink of infinity, as his ear-splitting scream fills the air…!” Hulk’s first words; “Get out of my way insect!”
  8. It's good, but I'm not sure it's more important than page 2. Without this moment, there is no Spider-man
  9. “My fault – all my fault! If only I had stopped him when I could have! But I didn’t… and now… Uncle Ben is dead…” And a lean, silent figure slowly fades into the gathering darkness, aware at last that in this world, with great power, there must also come – great responsibility!
  10. I won this on a Comiclink auction recently. For $420, I thought I stole it. I now exclusively collect pages, mainly those that depict sentinel moments in a character's storyline.
  11. that was my bid, but I have since been outbid. My wife can now breathe a sigh of relief... unless I change my mind...
  12. Back of Avengers #1, page 15. "We need a name. It should be colorful and dramatic, like, the Avengers, or..." "'or' nothing! That's it! The Avengers!!"
  13. Let's use this thread to show your most epic pages of the Golden Age of comics (I also have a separate thread for Silver Age) Without this moment, there is likely no Batman
  14. Let's use this thread to show us your most epic comic book pages of the Silver Age. (I also have a separate thread for Golden Age) Without this moment, there is no Spider-Man
  15. Bump on this thread. I'm not sure if it's because this thread is old, but it's not letting me edit my very first post. So, I guess I'll just copy and paste here. I've added one. 16. Thanks everyone, and a reminder -- submit a pic as visual evidence of your find, or I may not add it to the list "officially."
  17. I have decided to use this thread to compile an editable list of classic comic covers, as designated by Overstreet and/or CGC. All titles and issues that are post Golden Age are put in italics. Comics that are designated by CGC as classic, but not by Overstreet, are put bold. Let me know about any errors. If you have a graded comic that CGC says is a classic cover, but not on the Overstreet list, post a picture and I'll add it to the list. Who knows, perhaps the registry will wind up using the list as a separate "set."
