Hey now, lets not get crazy. No reason for the FF to change . Pretty good creation from the get go. Invisible girl certainly changed powers.
That's true but it was very early on. How much have they changed since the end of the Silver Age? Every time a writer tries to show some character growth in Johnny Storm for example, the next writer comes along and regresses him to being an immature fool. I guess at least they don't need a deal with Mephisto to wipe out any progress.

Nice. I love pre Break-Up Avengers.
I always loved the Avengers because the lineup changed so often. Or Antman changed his name and powers.
Yeah, the characters were allowed to grow and develop unlike the FF who have virtually stagnated.

Here are some early Avengers Annuals that you don't see posted very often :
Another of my favourite covers.

Never read this issue..But the Hulk would lay the smackdown on giant-man!
Not if Giant-man had somehow obtained the Power Cosmic and/or Captain Universe powers!!! Great book Garry!! (thumbs u
Thanks Rich and ,hey Spider Man once beat Magneto because he gained the Captain Universe powers so stranger things have happened.

Yeah, this took place after the Hulk had already taken on the FF and the Avengers at the same time.

I always really liked the Magneto/Rogue story in Uncanny X Men 274 & 275. I think that Magneto's personality was at it's best there, a man too hardened by life to ever be an ally of the X Men but still a man who fought for his kind with a fierce determination that was admirable. It still annoys me that Lobdell regressed his character back when he took over the X books.

As I'd dug this scan out for the pence copy thread, I figured I'd post it here too.

I love this Hulk vs Giant Man cover.

I've got 40 slabbed Avengers that are my undercopies and I'm interested in seeing if anyone is interested in trading for copies of Avengers that I do not have. Are For Trade threads allowed in the Forum Sale section?
Sounds like a great idea...... except that I don't have much to trade for them.

Cool (thumbs u ,what grade is the # 1?

I just received my #11 - slabbed -- CGC 9.0.
Did you have it slabbed yourself?
Nope. Bought it that way.
Looking forward to the scan Andrew.

Lovely #11. (thumbs u
I love looking at the scans of unslabbed books, without a layer of plastic hiding all their glorious detail.
I just received my #11 - slabbed -- CGC 9.0.
I'll see if I have time to do a scan next week and post it here.

The cover to the # 63 is one of my old favourites.
Some nice NM's there Andrew.

For a while I owned the Curator copy of Avengers #25 CGC 9.4. I'll pull out the scan when I can locate it. I cry a little when I see it.
-
Mmmmmmm... white pages. I want that book! Badly.
There are three Avengers issues I'm jonesing for in 9.0+ with OW/W or W pages: #11, #25 and of course #57.
Aren't we all?

anyone seen an Avengers #48 cgc 9.4 for sale/ i missed 2 opportunities to grab one last several months...
My # 48 from FT's USAF Mildenhall collection just came back from CGC as a 9.2 but the # 61 came back as a 9.4.
But in answer to your question, no I haven't seen one.

Thank you all. (thumbs u
I aspire to own a copy that nice. (thumbs u
From the scan, the book looks like it could have graded higher. Any visible flaws? I can see the corners are a bit blunted.
Is that a bit of chipping along the top edge?

Kudos to Drewincanada for some slabbed Avengers. He went beyond the call of duty in providing good scans and graders notes and finding out the best shipping options for me.

Yeah, that is a cool group shot on the cover of # 12 and that is a killer copy. Congrats on a great book.

So what? Is there almost a consensus that there should be a test run in the VCC? Sounds like the most sensible suggestion to me.
The increment/no increment thing needs to be decided though. It must be a lot less work for the seller to have no increment surely?
