  1. I once bought a 9.8 slabbed X-Men 240 and it was so yellowed, I pulled up the auction picture thinking maybe he played with the color balance.  Sure enough, it was a different slab (different CGC number), so I did a return.  Seller got pissy with me, but oh well.  I still don't have a 9.8 of that book, but I have a really nice-looking 9.2 that I prefer over the book that that dude had sent.

  2. I couldn't select a custom label (for a comic I've seen said label on before), so from what I'd seen here, I just annotated my submission form.  However, I was just charged and the $5 for the custom label was not part of the charge, so I thought I'd ask about it.  Was aiming for a SIG SECRET WARS label on submission 4324684.

    Nevermind, I got a call through (whew...about a 30 minute wait 😅).

  3. Since I see there are a few threads about this, I thought I'd add to the most recent... I sent in books for different signings (same box), not putting any initials on the outside of the box and here's how it went for me:
    22 Jun - Shipped
    26 Jun - USPS delivered
28 Jun - CGC shows delivered
30 Jun - Elizabeth Olsen cutoff
07 Jul - Peach Momoko cutoff
13 Jul - Momoko in system / Scheduled for Grading
    18 Jul - Momoko signed
04 Aug - CGC emails me about missing Olsen signature
    10 Aug - Momoko GEI
    14 Aug - Momoko shipped

I called in June and was assured the Olsen books would probably be okay, which is consistent with my previous experiences with CGC customer service.

    Dang, sorry about those grades!!

Wondering what tier these were?  Modern?

    Thanks

Yep.  100% Modern with 9.0 prescreen.  A couple from 2004, one from 2009, the rest 2010 or later (five from 2021+).  Some have minor defects, but some look quite new.  There was one comic that was split across two submissions (sent in 39 books): a 9.8, a 9.6, and then of course, a 9.0.

  5. Got my submission and... all 25 were slabbed 9.0 WHITE (including a comic that was previously graded at 9.6 [old slab]) 😥

Customer service and submissions both deny that they could've made a mistake since everything is looked at by 3 graders.  One rep I talked to said that even if I sent all 25 back in and they came back 9.8, they would just claim they could've been pressed.  There's simply no possible way to get one's money back, even if there was a mistake.

Lesson learned: never message them asking about the status of a submission that's been in G/E/I for over a month 😓

  6. One thing I only just found out, that may be of interest to submitters: according to Becky, the "Grade Date" is not necessarily the date a comic was graded, rather, it was when the graders received it.  (the grade dates for all the comics in my worrisome submission is 6/17/2022)

Looks like I'll be getting the shipment tomorrow.  I sure hope it's a database error and the books are correctly graded 😓

Based on your second post I’m quite scared to email them lol… I’d rather not get 25 straight 9.0’s with no grader notes. That is very bizarre.

Oh I don't blame you one bit.  I'm pretty freaked out by this.  Part of me wonders if I should've not sent that initial message, but then again... maybe this was just bound to happen, so better to tackle it sooner.

I hope I find someone at CGC with some understanding.  I already got an alarming response via email; the rep doesn't recognize why there's a problem. 😬

Ive got a modern batch of 25 sitting in GEI since 7/14…. So almost a month in that status currently (shrug)

Might want to send them a message.  It will almost certainly get it moving.  Perhaps there's a problem employee that we can help root out.

If you get all same grades, maybe you can give them a phone call before they ship out.

A month is a very long time to be in GEI, even for pre screen..my prescreen GEI usually last a few days.  I did have an Express stuck in GEI for two weeks, sent them an email (no response) but order went to QC the next morning

Well, I sent a message on Friday and the package has been received by FedEx.  Weird that all the grades show 9.0... I've never seen anything like it:

None of them are in the census, either:

Makes me really wonder about their process.

  10. FYI: The instructions I was emailed were a little off: don't click Reholder, scroll past that and click Mechanical Error.  Also the email had instructions about payment that didn't work, so I submitted credit card info and the site informs that you won't be charged.

Aaaand... I should've taken a screenshot, but there was a spot where I couldn't do anything or click Next: try refreshing, it was some kind of website error I kept getting.
