  1. Let say same two books, very rare, major-key book, same grade, same price...and everything else is equal between the two books, 1. First book with white pages but with off-centered cover, thick white line runs along the spine 2. Second book, off-white to white pages but with perfectly centered cover Which would you choose?
  2. oh yeah, I hadn't thought about long time collectors who completed the run before CGC even existed.....I'm so jealous of you guys, as much as I appreciate the slab protection, I absolutely love fine raw books. you can actually read them, look at old ads in them, you can smell the old paper.....there's just so much charm in raw books
  3. How did you guys get such really nice raw books? ...did you buy them graded, then open them? ....or just being patient, waited for months/years to get the right copy? there are not many 8+ raw silver these days? most of the nice ones have been slabbed
  4. wow that's really cool!!! ...almost like a print error, I'd say keep it, that's one of a kind
  5. Iron Man?? ...which is pricier, Iron Man #1 or #55??
  6. What about Marvel Comics #1, Superman #1, Batman #1? ...I think those three should belong in the same tier as AC1, AF15, Tec27
  7. true.....of course we would like to have some nice copies for #1 and #5, not just some beat up 0.5 grade, at least I'd like to have a grade 4-5, and they are now out of my budget
  8. but seems like a complete run is out of the question now to newcomers like us with prices for #1 and #5 skyrocketing
  9. biggest mistake of your life, shoulda gone with Night Nurse instead
  10. So I assume many of you long-time FF collectors already have a complete run of vol.1 ? ...or at least the silver/bronze age or just silver ones? I used to collect Iron-Man and Avengers, ....just started collecting FF about 6 weeks ago, so I have a long way to go. I don't have many of the prized issues, only a 7.5 #52 and 7.5 #25 and a 9.4 #89, those are my three most prized issues. Other than that, I have 20 or so raws, late silver, grade 7-9. Then I have about 30 raw bronzes
  11. What about Avengers? I can't think of anything major besides #1, #55, #57
  12. You never know, once in a blue moon, Europeans still discover Renaissance treasures in their attic....
  13. awesome that some of them are preserved!!...24 pages of AF15 wow!! Gone are the days where libraries and museums looked at comic arts as kiddie arts or trash not worth preserving.......they should be preserved as national treasures
  14. Any of the holy grails original cover art ever been found?....If the books can command 300K up to 3M, what do you think the original arts could fetch?... 20-50M?? ...We're talking prices reserved for classical drawings (Raphael, Rembrandt, etc, ....though major Michelangelo or Leonardo's drawings, if ever come up on auction could easily go over 150M-200M)
  15. But is good movies really the reason why comics prices jump? FF movies were horrible (even the first two) and yet the comic prices held up during those rough years ....maybe DC comics aren't just that as popular as Marvel comics to begin with?
  16. Tales of Suspense steals Iron-Man thunder, so many ToS keys that could've gone to IM, ToS39 (obviously), 50 (Mandarin), 52 (Black Widow), 57 (Hawkeye), 59 , 75, 97
  17. ASM by the fact that it's the most popular Marvel characters, plus it has so many movies made, plus many of its enemies popular enough to branch out to create their own franchise After ASM, then FF, it has way too many iconic characters spawned out of this franchise
  18. No, they didn't I just made it look that way for picture
  19. that's a very nice 7.5, I can't find any flaw....easily 8.5 or even eBay 9
  20. Savannah Pedigree!! ...gonna get it re-slabbed with that wicked black gold pedigree label
