  1. Hello, I'm hoping someone might be able to help me identify a couple of sketch covers that I recently acquired in a comic collection. The first is a wraparound sketch cover of Scarlet Spider #1 (2012), with the signature on the back. The second, is a front cover sketch of Venom #1 (2018) with the signature in the bottom right corner, reading AM 18. Any help identifying these sketches would be most appreciated. Cheers! EDIT: Please ignore this post, someone has kindly enlightened me, the Scarlet Spider is by Nick Gribbon and the Venom is by Alex Mines.
  2. That was my initial thoughts as well, until I found this thread:
  3. Yeah, I would have put it at an 8.0-8.5 without the trimming. I don't think it can be a production issue as the difference of 8mm is more than i've ever seen before. I know CGC will treat the signatures as pen marks, and not verify them, so i'm thinking I may keep the set raw for now.
  4. The second one. The issue number for each sig picture is visible in the small print.
  5. I've got rid of the images for #1, 3 & 4, except for the signatures as that's for context in the story.
  6. Is it ok if I specify that i'm just looking for a grade for the issue #2?
  7. I recently picked up this set of Wolverine Limited Series #1-4 on Whatnot. The owner was selling it as a NM set, from what I could see all the books looked to be in VF-NM range and I was happy with the price, so I picked them up. On arrival I had a couple of surprises. Number 2 looks to me like it has been trimmed on the right side of the comic. The top edge is 162mm long while the bottom edge is 170mm, so I think it's pretty clear. The other major surprise was that the comics all appear to have been signed on the bottom of the first page, by none other than Chris Claremont and Joe Rubinstein. Chris has even written a short message in two of them, and dated the signature in issue #3 as 11.9.82. I have checked the signatures and they seem to match other signatures from that period, I know Chris Claremont's changed quite significantly as he got older. If anyone can confirm these signatures to be authentic I'd really appreciate it. I am only looking for a grade estimate for Issue #2 as I am unfamiliar with trimming and have no idea how much this will affect the grade.
  8. Small update on this comic, it came back as an 8.0 grade which I was understandably pretty disappointed with. Grader notes stated: moderate spine stress lines to cover, small bend top of front cover. I have resubmitted it for pressing and regrading in the hope that it can somehow climb up to 9.0 at least.
  9. Some very decent info in this thread, appreciate the contributions so far. I've recently picked up a set of Eternals 1-19 in excellent condition and I'm trying to work out which books I should be sending off to get pressed and graded. So far i'm planning on submitting #1, 2, 3, 5 & 7, should I be strongly considering any others?
  10. Thanks for the feedback everyone, glad to hear my estimate was pretty much in-line with the general consensus.
  11. First post here and looking for a second opinion on my Young Avengers #1 variant. It has a couple of very small creases at the bottom staple onto the back cover, but the front cover looks immaculate so i'd hope this wouldn't prevent it hitting a 9.0+ grade. Would love to hear others thoughts on it and whether it is worth submitting.
