    +2 Detecting restoration is really tough, so you can't expect the seller to know from their inspection, no matter how "experienced" they are. Chalk up the $250 to the cost of learning about restoration.

    I send almost all my books Priority Mail and they usually get there in the expected time. I do not add insurance since I have Collectibles Insurance. They do require a signature for the insurance coverage to be in effect. I might use Media Mail if I have a bunch of lower value raws to ship

    I believe USPS Priority packages are always scanned. At least mine are, here in the Bay area. And I try to get the scan receipt when I hand off to a PO worker. If I ever just drop off into the bin, I check over the next day that it has been entered in the USPS tracking system. Where is your Post Office? Maybe they are too damn lazy...
