Cancelled Comic Cavalcade was produced as two volumes with the first in the summer of 1978 and the second in the fall of 1978. They contain xeroxed copies of comics which DC cancelled. For copyright purposes only the unpublished art was xeroxed and bound. Only 35 copies were made. They included titles like Black Lightning, Claw, The Deserter, Doorway to Nightmare, Firestorm, The Green Team, Kamandi, Prez, Secret Society of Super Villians, The Vixen, Army at War, Battle Classics, Demand Classics, Dynamic Classics, Mr. Miracle, Ragman, Weird Mystery, and Western Clasics.

Ok. We seem to have several threads going with the same question being asked. I have already posted the text in: EXTREME EXTREME - Gerber 11s - Nonexistent? and also Double Action Comics. Please note that I wrote the text below on Friday September 29th. In regard to Double Action Comics #1 ashcan, I just spoke to Bob this morning and asked him about the existence of the book. He stands by the information in the Guide in regards to this ashcan. I also spoke to noted collector and ashcan expert Gary Colabuono who told me that the image of the Double Action Comics #1 cover that is being circulated is very questionable and he believes it is something that was produced recently, and is not a vintage piece. He believes that it is a good natured hoax at best. Regards, Tom

The problem with Pore Lil' Mose is that the book is collected by many different collectors not just comic collectors. This book is of interest to people who collect Black Americana memorabilia. For over 30 years numerous copies have been cut up and destroyed. It is not uncommon to find single pages of this book framed and for sale at antique shops. Needless to say high grade examples of the book are very scarce. About 12 years ago I saw a antique dealer pay $1,000 for a coverless copy which he was going to seperate and sell page by page.

Can I borrow it so I can make a copy? You can already see as much as I will ever see too since he can't breathe! You should crack it out and read it!

Gerber Volume 2 Pg. 784 has an image of the ashcan cover to World's Best Comics #1. The cover art is from Action Comics #29.

Might I ask how much it went for? Was this referring to the Wonder Woman or the Action Funnies? It was the Wonder Woman #1 Ashcan and sold for $17,250 on 3/16/02.

Do you mean the three promo Christmas Superman comics, one from 1940 and two from 1944, or do you mean something else Taylor's Christmas Tabloid from the 1930s features some of the earliest work of Siegel & Shuster.

Ah, now that's there, and if you look closely you will see it's there, but it's not the comic you asked about to the right of the comic that you thought was a Superman 14 but that isn't a Superman 14 at all. Ian is correct as it is not Superman #14 it is a promotional book that was produced in the 1940s. It is a workbook so to speak and a copy was sold at Sotheby's in the 1990s. Do you have a copy of Taylor's Christmas Tabloid?

It's a copy of Superman and The Great Cleveland Fire from 1948 which was produced for a hospital fund. Also the comic next to The All-Flash #1 is a copy of Narrative Illustrated, The Story of the Comics. Several different version of this book exist with different inserts of the religious comic.

I actually found out about the other version that Michael Goldman had around the time of Wizard World Philly. I am sure we will add this to the guide.

These books were originally published as thicker books with later editions broken into several issues which are noted on the covers as Part1, etc. The CGC certified edition is a later edition which is still early 1900s. Page 1022 of the 35th edition of The Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide has a color photo of the 1892 edition which features the Chicago Worlds Fair.

The 1991 catalogue from the comic auction at Sotheby's featured a two page listing on Fawcett ashcans including Flash Comics #1, Nickel Comics #1, and Slam Bang Comics #1.

FREIHOFERS COMIC BOOK is on page 241 of the 32nd edition of The Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide. The book features early All American Comic characters and a full page ad featuring Buck Rogers.
