  1. Ditko's last cover and interior Doctor Strange story in Strange Tales.
  2. I'd say that's EXACTLY what he did! Good eye!
  3. Hey, I can chip in a cool Joe Simon cover ... but nothing .... ELSE!!! Ha! Laughing at myself right there!
  4. BOTH great covers Ricky, especially highlighted in the extremely high-grade you have them in!!!
  5. Yikes, that was blurry in some spots! Ok, here's the Doctor Strange splash page and cover to Strange Tales #144.
  6. Ok, this is my first attempt to photograph an entire story for this thread. I need to work on it, I know. It may be blurry in spots, but my heart is in the right place. This is the Doctor Strange story from Strange Tales #143, first to last, then the cover. I will work on doing a better job of this, as I want to post stories that might be hard to find reprints of.
  7. There are MANY comics with Steve's work that to my knowledge, haven't been reprinted. Here is a page 1 splash to a western story from Gunsmoke Western #66. The artwork is unmistakable! A rare treat to find in the back of a funny book! The splash and the cover, so you can go find one for yourself!
  8. One thing I wanted to do with this thread is post pics of comic interiors! In this day of certification, we may not always know what's going on inside a particular comic book. This is the page 1 splash to Amazing Spider-Man #7. Oh, and here's the cover, as if you didn't know!
  9. I've wanted to start a Steve Ditko thread for quite some time. I searched for one and nothing came back, so if there WAS one, maybe it's been archived. Regardless, I think this forum really should have a thread for this man and his unique abilities to illustrate in his own special style ... a style that the average comic book collector immediately identifies as his artwork! Also, he deserves quite the tip of the cap for all of the characters he's either created or co-created in his artistic career! This thread is being created to celebrate the man and his contributions to comic books! This will not be the place to discredit other comic creators! There are other places that you can do that. This is happy, this is fun ... this is the Fans of Steve Ditko thread!!!
  10. Yeah, but we get to see each other's books pretty often, so it's almost like we get two collections!!!!
  11. Yeah, that's certainly a route that SOME people take! Then it just becomes, "Oh, look at my big whopper!!!" I honestly don't know who has time for THOSE kind of shenanigans.
  12. For the longest time his work on the Fox books was kind of kept quiet, at least I didn't hear anyone talk about it until sometime in the 2000s. I know SOME people knew, but most of the chatter about them centered around Lou Fine's cover and interior work. Joe did some great work for Timely too, but most people knew about that.
  13. The other interesting possibility that I don't recall anyone mentioning is that if he were to be able to find a complete coverless, wrap these covers around it and send it in for certification, it'd likely come back a green qualified label, as there wouldn't be any restoration, just the marrying of an interior to covers. I don't know what the value would be there, but it wouldn't be "restored" and to some people, that makes a LOT of difference. Not me personally, but SOME people don't want restored books, regardless of the price or condition.
  14. I honestly don't know what to say ... Well, first off, I'd like to thank the academy and everyone who always supported and believed in my dreams of owning a VERY prestigious copy of Fantastic Four #5!!! The acclaim and notoriety that comes with such a hallowed prize couldn't possibly be measured in terms of dollars and cents!!! Only those who've been graced with the presence of a Fantastic Four #5 in their collection can truly understand how special this day is for me, one that shall be remembered and spoken of well beyond the time I have moved on into the Quantum Realm!!!
  15. That's a REALLY nice looking 2.0!!! It DOES say that most of the spine is split, so I see why it was graded a 2.0. For YOU though, you get a book that has the appearance of a much nicer copy, so more bang for your buck! Congrats!!!
