  1. I have no idea what the back cover looks like, as I don't have it in hand yet. I'm hoping it's still there!
  2. Thanks! I was surprised (and thankful) I was able to win it without more opposition.
  3. Wow, he did a real nice job on both of those stories, but I really dig that octopus story from Subby! Definitely an under-the-radar type of guy as far as awareness, as I've seldom heard anyone talking about him or his work. Very cool stuff!
  4. Thanks for posting that!!! I enjoy being exposed to comics that I don't recall ever seeing, especially when they're awesome!!! The horror genre is one I've only dabbled in, never having very many in my collection. Some of those books can be VERY pricey and you kind of need to know your stuff in that genre. Unless of course it's a cool book and cheap, then it's an easy call, but cool horror books and cheap aren't used in a sentence very often!
  5. I completely agree! There's seemed more of a "dabbling" attempt, just throwing a few titles out there to represent that genre in the marketplace. Al Jaffee did a LOT of the Timely funny animal books in the 40's as I recall with Dan DeCarlo doing more of the 50s books. I have some from that area, but it's been forever since I've taken the time to leaf through them. Here are a couple of raw and a slabbed copy. I need to look through these again very soon!
  6. THAT is spectacular!!! I don't recall ever SEEING that cover before!!! NOW I'm gonna be on the lookout!!!
  7. Even though the label doesn't say it, it is!
  8. Very cool, thanks! I'll be looking forward to my bedtime story (I'm making a point to read a funny book every night). I remember some of his work from the tail end of More Fun, but I no longer own any of those.
  9. Enjoying your slow-moving morning coffee and buying a funny book from one of your geeks ... can't get much better than THAT on a Saturday morning! Thanks Billy Boy!!
  10. I only have a few horror comics in my collection at present, and of them, I think this is my favorite cover.
  11. Looking thru a stack of books this morning, I found tonight's bedtime story. I remember buying this in an antique store with my then girlfriend about 10 years ago. If you're like me, you just hope to find SOMETHING to buy that fits an interest of yours and in that particular place ... pickin's were slim! I remember seeing that Atlas globe and feeling relief! I also got a few random Dells and got out of there.
  12. Creepy little dude operating a robot to same. (Sorry for the too-soon repost, but ya gotta admit, this one is tailor made)!!!
