  1. I just got a batch of books in today from our very own D ick Pontoon and I'm very happy with them, nailed the grades, packed 'em well, all around happiness! Here they are for the curious ... Some western action ...
  2. WOWZA!!! GREAT page!!! I'm jealous, in a respectfully good way! Congratulations!!!
  3. Everett was the draw to me buying these and not letting them go. I NOW have the Masterworks reprinting these, but there's nothing like thumbing thru a vintage copy, the paper aroma, the texture of the page ... the color strike of the inks ... can't be captured with a Masterwork. Everett's name doesn't get called out much, but Everett, like Kirby, is one of the artists that produced fantastic artwork in 5 different decades. His 70s Subby was the exemplar that few ever captured. The pic below is from a copy not it the Thrifty Grocer collection of Subby #39 and it's classic 50s Everett!
  4. Captain America #76, Cap comes back!!! Unfortunately, it wouldn't last very long.
  5. Struggling with the light today. In the anthology titles where we get one story each of Torch, Subby and Cap, those stories are longer than the character title where they shoehorn 4 stories into an issue, usually a pair of 6 pagers and a pair of 5 pagers. Young Men #28
  6. Subby busting thru a wall to Cap busting thru a door.
  7. Beatles in Strange Tales to Beatles in Patsy and Hedy.
  8. I LOVE this sketch!!! Congratulations on being able to obtain this!!!
  9. Preparing to fire from a water vessel to already firing from an airplane.
  10. Marvel Comics #2 issue introducing a major character to Marvel Comics #2 issue introducing a major character.
  11. Sounds like you've gotten quite lucky in your happy accidents! Well done!
  12. Disappearing on a street to disappearing into thin air! (Marvel Tales #157 La Prensa).
  13. Sadly, Subby's daddy, Bill Everett didn't get a solo cover assignment on his character in the Silver Age, but this issue got a collaborative effort from Gene Colan and Bill Everett. Subby clearly has pointy ears. Doubtful Everett would miss it if they were omitted.
  14. Gene Colan had gotten the memo (TTA 82 & Subby #1) as did Marie Severin (Subby #s 12 & 19), so it's odd to me that other artists didn't seem to know of Subby's Vulcan-like ear appearance.
