The Thrifty Grocer Collection
Frisco Larson replied to Frisco Larson's topic in Golden Age Comic Books
This issue has something special going on in the Captain America story! Of all of the Atlas Superhero revival comics, it's the only story I recall where other heroes cross over into another heroes story!!! Yes, that's right, both the Human Torch and the Sub-Mariner not only appear in the Captain America story, they have a brief interaction with each other!!! I've always found it to be VERY cool and have included a pic of it here, so you can see if you agree. Oh and if that's not enough, the Human Torch gets a Supervillain (The Vulture) to battle in his story!! This is an underrated issue gang!!! Oh yeah, and another extra Subby page again, to start the weekend off right!!! Young Men #26 -

Had some decent sunlight and an opportunity to snap some pics of a couple of other copies from the collection today. An extra Subby page thrown in for the Everett fans! Men's Adventures #28 -

Marvel Westerns (Silver Age)

That's a great book, one that I still haven't found the right copy of yet. The beginning of the new Two-Gun Kid: Matt Hawk! Great grab!! -

Marvel Westerns (Silver Age)

I gotta tell ya, ya don't need to be rich to buy these westerns, at least not in my "I'll just take them as I find them" mentality. I buy some beaters but find that some dealers at shows price even mid-grade copies very low, sometimes $5-$10 for perfectly acceptable copies. Other dealers might have $50-$60 on them. I guess I'm lucky that I like 'em all ... high grade, mid-grade, low grade, NO grade! I got me some beaters in the group!!! This RK 29 might be too rough for some, but I LOVE it!!! That piece off saved me some big money!!! I just checked my list and the dealer had $11 on that! I'll TAKE it! -
Marvel Westerns (Silver Age)

That makes sense, as Rawhide Kid was more Kirby's run than any other western, from what I've seen. My run starts just where yours ends ... -
