What's new in your Silver Age collection this week
Frisco Larson replied to Silver's topic in Silver Age Comic Books
Thanks! It was an odd weather day today in that it was probably in the high 70s, with rain and hail in the late afternoon!!! Got the vehicle under some big trees and saved it from damage!!! We get ALL the weather here, sometimes all in one day!!! -

@Unca Ben those pages are AMAZING!!! Just WOW!!! Thank you so much for sharing those!!! -
Sorry for the diversion, but I guess I DO have a pic of the actual book! I kept it in pretty decent shape, I think!!!

As a kid, I only bought new comics, as I had no way to obtain anything vintage, well with ONE exception. In 7th grade I traded a few new comics for an Iron Man #4 (which I still have & is the ONLY comic I have from my childhood)!!! I couldn't believe it when he produced it!!! 1968 ... WOW!!! I thought it had to be the only one left in existence!!! Beyond that, it was the spinner rack or magazine rack for me.

I remember when heritage auctioned this entire story! That splash page was SO cool to see!!! The copy below was my first TTA #27 and I sold it in the mid 90s to someone I was friends with, although I seldom saw him. Anyway, about 20 years later (almost exactly), he offered it back to me. Somehow, he'd managed to detach the cover, as it turns out, he's not as careful with the comics as one would hope, which is the reason I decided to certify it. I've owned around a half dozen copies of that issue (I've always loved it) and upgraded a few years ago with a book from Har (bottom copy) but can't bring myself to sell my first copy! I guess I probably never will.

I was the same way pal. I just wanted the books and a vg fit the bill much better than a vf for me, mostly because I could get more of them! I was lucky though, we had guys like John Hauser coming into town with clean mid-grade copies with killer pages and they were very affordable, especially when you picked up a stack!
