Personal Information

  1. The Red Sonja on the cover of Howard the Duck #1 reminds me of the women Esteban Maroto would draw. It's that funky seventies eye-shadow. Black-eye chic or something. I can't find a pic of what I mean. This is all I could come up with. Maroto's Dracula book by Warren knocked me out with the colors. Here's his Red Sonja.
  2. Wertham must've missed this one. "Have a book-burning party! Lotsa fun and laughs!" What was the story about? Some sort of surreal dream of some rare-bit fiend? Weren't the Nazi's in the news doing this at the time? (I never knew McKay's son copied his dad. Kind of like Chic Young and his son on Blondie. Ditto Bill Ward and progeny. Can you think of any other children who took up the pen and brush and followed in their parents footsteps?) EDIT: Dean Wayne Young (born July 2, 1938) is the head writer of the popular comic strip Blondie, which he inherited from his father Chic Young in 1973. Since that time he has produced the comic with a team including credited artists Jim Raymond from 1973 until 1981, Mike Gersher from 1981 until about 1984, Stan Drake from 1984 until 1997 and Denis Lebrun from 1997 until 2005. The current Blondie head artist is John Marshall.

  5. Jeez, my scanning level, (300) seems to have x-ray specs or some sort of spectrometry that showcases WHAT DOSEN'T APPEAR TO THE HUMAN EYE!!! I'll tone it down to 200. (Whatever that means.)
  6. Why . .. ...How . . . . (Sound the *Innappropriate Klaxon*. Alert WrightsonFan.) "It Came In The Mail" (I got nothing. Cheap, is all. Wooden actors and bad photoshop. Version: negative 4.0? I dunno. Double Plus Good / Very Good Plus / Fine Minus Probably top-'o'-the-census.)
  7. I'm so fed up . . . Sorry for the massive dump with no exploratory context. It's late and I'm on a mission to get it done. I'm too grumpy to be snarky. Whilst it's uploading, it occured to me to remember to mention that I'm including the "Funny Back Covers" not for the humorous aspect but for the identifiable characteristics. That is, in case anyone is keeping a census. Rare v. scarce and all - Gerber-wise. There. Done. Here we go. Enjoy! Whoops & yikes! That is way OT. Stop it, now! OK. We get it, duh! Enough, now, I swear.
  8. Upgrade NOW to version 3.0 with an added Christ in a Sidecar! I'm talkin' hrs. to get you this. Come to think of it, (and I've had time, what with this "scanners live in hell" thingy.) I've seen these before so they aren't rare. Bother Back cvr of both > I've got more but I cannot just put my hand to them just as easy as YOU please. (Is my collection, then, reduced to a base accumulation?)
  9. Would you, please, provide us with detailed scans of that Ghostly Weird "Death Ship" & that Snow Storm Make-Out cover? THX Edit: No. Wait. They're classic covers and are posted somewhere in this thread. Does NVRMND = Nevermind? Anyways, I'm a Cole fan, myself, from way back, but mine are low grade. I'm embarresed to post them. Perhaps the romance covers I own are rare, though. I dunno. We'll see. Eventually. Edit 2.0: WTH. I'll scan and run 'em now. Edit 2.5: GD Software by HP - Use diff. products by HP bought at diff. times and I get conflicting software. An upgrade battle to see what loads on top. Edit 2.75: God this is interminable. Reload the software . . . *choke* "Good Lord!"
