  1. *Disclaimer: not really anything to do with cgc books, just comics. Thinking of condensing my collection and had a question for any who have any experience. I have a decent sized collection, but really “collected” with no focus so the bulk of what I have is random. With that being said, the issues I have in legacy series, should I keep them regardless? I know that’s a bit open ended, just mean is there always going to be value for run fillers in legacy series? Cause the stuff I do have it’s like a handful of gold, decent silver/bronze, and a bulk being copper and onward till about 2012. For instance amazing spider-man is the series I have the most issues in and it’s only 168 and they are all random, a few mini runs here and there. But yea, so the question is, should I hold on to the run fillers regardless or just pick out the keys and hold on to those? I would like to hold onto the issues that have the most value for my PC and condense the ones that don’t. So I would either hold onto the keys and ditch the run fillers or hold onto the run fillers and ditch the keys I deem to be minor lol.
  2. Gonna get this signed by rob liefeld on Monday. Kinda spur of the moment so don’t have time to get it pressed (oh well) definitely some finger bends under the light, but some other issues are some deep color breaking spine ticks and a couple weird spots/stains. Curious on a grade please.
  3. Was curious about a grade, thanks in advance. Or if any sort of clan and press would benefit from it.
  4. Oh yea, duh, that makes complete sense. Was just immediately sus one I pulled it out of a mystery box for only $40. But it’s beat up enough to warrant it being included lol. Can y’all spare a grade? I have more pics or should I just post in it’s proper thread?
  5. Hello, I recently got an issue of this comic in a mystery box that I only paid 40 dollars for so that’s got me sketch to begin with. But the condition isn’t the best….so it might be justified? Anyways, what I’m most worried about are the staples. Idk, they seem pretty untouched to me given the age on on the inside middle of the book, the do look perfectly aligned as they should, but there are frays next to the staples where it looks like they could have been removed previously? Also, there’s som big gashes on the front cover where it almost looks like it should have caused a gash or tear but on the front inside cover there is little to no indentations of where the gash is just a crease if anything. Idk anything about restoration, so any help would help.
  6. Why would they not strive to do the best job they can at a service they offer? Especially with how long it takes to go through CCS. Like, why offer a service at all if there’s not much attention to it? Finger prints just seem like such a petty thing to be put on it lol. I mean the book got a 7.0 so I know without the finger prints I doubt it would bump it up any so not complaining about the grade…..just seems petty is all.
  7. 2 questions here, hope they both haven't been touched on. I sent in some books legit last year to be graded and they are finally being shipped back today!!! Very happy, but i was looking at the grades for some (and I'm no grader), but i did pay to get them pressed there also and there were a very things that perplexed me. To begin with i sent in a Black panther and Ms Marvel #1 I didn't expect either to get that great of a grade so not too much of a gripe on the grade than it is pressing and cleaning. Well i guess that's my first question, does cleaning not come with it? My Black Panther came back with a graders note of "very light finger prints on back cover".....like, that's not something they clean off and get rid of during the pressing? And the Ms Marvel said "moderate spine stress lines to cover" I'm guess it just couldn't be pressed out? (obviously) lol. Last question involves shipping back, I just checked my submission tracking today and it says "status: shipped" do they not email you with a tracking number or anything like that? Anywho thanks for your time and responses.
  8. Alright, upon further inspection, it most certainly is a replication cover/restored comic. The staples look newish, leaf casting the front in back cover 100% replicated cover, 4 reproduced interior pages, Fist and last page married to replicated cover, and tape on almost every page. The book would get a NG? Or a restored grade? The one page I care about is there and real. The Wil Eisner splash page of uncle sams debut. I don’t have the best pics as I do not have a scanner, but here is what I have:
  9. A little preface: I do not have any pics but will post some tomorrow, as i keep my comics in another place, this question is just keeping me up and wanted to get it out in the ether lol. I acquired an issue of National Comics #1 awhile back, i paid very little for if as i bought a whole collection and it was very cheap, like averaged out to like three bucks or something like that. I bought the collection blind, some guy was just selling three long boxes or something like that, i figured why not. So just given the fact that it was included in the collection im almost certain it is restored. I am a modest collector, i own no real keys except for like secret wars #8 and a few others in that price range, im saying all this so i can basically say that i know about comics....but at the same time i dont know a lot about high end things. This is the only golden age book i own, i have some silver aged ones but mostly modern, anywho i say that is it restored because well....the cover just does not look authentic. First of all the cover page quality is akin to like cardstock or something like that, i do not know if that is typical of golden age books? On top of that the cover just looks replicated. Like you can see pencil marks were it looks like the cover was just drawn on to replicate it. Like the entire cover. the interiors look fine enough for a comic of that age and does not seem to be missing any pages. So, a few questions, is that how restoration is done? Like is that typical, with the hand dawn nature of it? Would it be worth it to get graded? I know "worth it" is subjective, but i mean, would it be graded as a coverless comic since it isnt authentic (if that is the case)? I do want to get it preserved, but what would be the price for the services? The online submission page is currently down on the website otherwise i would look myself. But beyond that last question, which service would i choose? The walkthrough one? A NM copy is worth $11k+ but with the defects and such its probably really only worth $300 or so, but still walkthrough? Ive just never submitted a book that old before. Thank you for reading, i do not expect every question to be answered, i just dont know what i should do with this book? I want to hold on to it but also preserve it. I just dont know how cost effective itll be. I shall post some pics tomorrow
