  1. Just picked up this baby from Ted @ Superworld...upgraded my 9.4.
  2. As much as you dislike the way this situation was resolved, it was resolved in the best manner in which it could have ended. The best course of action is to just avoid the sales threads altogether, and perhaps a public reminder of his past transgressions. This assumes he doesn't shape up. Absolutely right. The PL must function the way it is set up to function. And when the aggrieved party accepts and announces it is all good, the guy has to be taken off. Agreed. Despite the fact that the result is not what we would really want, one thing that this situation brought to light for me as an observer reading all this...when it comes to dealing with Symbiotic, I'll will think twice about giving this seller my cash. No matter how nice his books look (and I would love a high grade HFH #1). This has probably done the same for quite a few other prospective buyers. So I would say the PL actually served its purpose.
  3. +1 I had fun watching this. My expectations were exactly what this movie was...a modern day Godzilla-esque flick. Killer CG instead of a guy in a suit mashing up a miniature city playset. Would love to see a sequel...I hope they take it up a notch.
  4. Nick, great job with this useful info along with the updates. (thumbs u Thanks!
  5. ED!!!! Oh snap!!! Rodney LIVES!!! Wassup David! I'll PM you buddy!
  6. Finally watch this on Father's Day...Not an X-Men fan (comics) but this was really enjoyable! Is it me or are the last 2 incarnations of X-Men much better than the first trilogy?
  7. Absolutely! I think Gabe Jones (of Sgt Fury) was Marvel's equivalent to Jackie Johnson right? A HUGE step in comics considering in the mid-50s, just the portrayal of a black astronaut was originally rejected by the Code Authority. Where can I easily get a copy? Very interested in reading this, especially as a collector of early and key books of black characters in comics (mostly Bronze Age /"blaxplotation" period though).
  8. (thumbs u ...and I'm glad they stayed away from the "hologram" wings!! That would have come off more Guardians of the Galaxy than Captain America.
  9. I finally saw this today... Loved it! It certainly lived up to all the buzz Ive been hearing several weeks. Best Marvel flick Ive seen in awhile (Avengers, Cap I, Iron Man I, Thor I, and X-Men:First Class being among the last I've enjoyed). Weird how Cap I goes from one of the lowest (despite thinking that it was one of MUs better films) to the highest grossing. Could a lot of people "been late to the show" when it came to Cap? Waited for DVD, Netflix or cable to catch on? Regardless, (thumbs u to ScarJo and Mackie playing their supporting roles well. And Stan's (not Lee! ) portrayal of an unstoppable machine...The Winter Soldier.
  10. Good catch! (thumbs u Ace Harlem was one of a few strips in All Negro Comics #1. Shouldve remembered that one. Most of those other characters in other features in that book that were the sterotypical caricatures I mentioned before (Lion Man, Sugarfoot, etc), but Ace was the exception. ANC #1 lasted only one issue, Ace Harlem featured in just a few pages...
  11. Definitely the first African-American and first to headlined his own book, albeit short-lived (2 issues, I believe). Golden Age had some silly caricatures of black people, except for one. A Black Panther-esque character, not costumed... more Prince of Wakada persona. He was the first star, but even he didnt have a self-titled series.
  12. Dont collect much SA books, but I will throw my hat in the ring... Little known book, great significance (to me, at least)... great story trying to obtain this thing. But worth it because it doesnt come around often, if at all.
  13. You should have left it at... This is where you got caught in the tornado and entered the land of Oz...
  14. Love to hear the story. As for if you got it for a good price, I guess. It depends on if it really is a VG grade. if its in the top end of VG, bordering Fine...you got a steal. If its on the lower end which Im assuming, then you probably paid a fair price. Maybe someone with more experience with Silver books of FF 52 can chime in.
  15. technology...i think we are bombarded with it at times and the market is oversaturated with handheld devices that we "need", but you've got to love it when its used for important things like...bidding on an auction that about to end and you wont make home to your PC (obsolete?) in time.
  16. crazy thing about finally obtaining this book (one of my grails). I knew the auction for this hard-to-find book was ending at about 7:50Pm. Unfortunately I was still on the highway headed home with my daughter and it was about 740. So of course... I get off the next exit and pull over to bid on the auction through my cellphone! Worth it... Never thought I would find this anytime soon.
  17. Couple of more this week. Must be a case of sufunk-itis
  18. With the twins on the way in less than two weeks, I had a selloff of about 60% of my collection. My collecting focus (probably the wrong word) was all over the place. I was shocked at what I actually got back in return $$$-wise for my books. Had enough to purchase baby-related stuff, enough for a rainy day, and a little surplus to indulge my main collecting focus...my Captain America collection. I found a few of these babies without breaking the bank: Can wait till they come home to papa!!!
  19. Sweet pickup... (thumbs u I just sold my 9.4 CGC SS for a clean 9.4. Love this book!
  20. No kidding about the fast payment. Great communication.. easy to deal with. Im sure my book will have a happy home.
  21. under bidder on a Marvel Premiere #21... been looking for that book in 9.6...someone paid a GPA high for it. More power to him/her. Ill wait...
