  1. yeah I know about the painting. The big thing is that with this being a new house the builder will come through after a year and fix settlement issues. The catch is that they will only repaint if it is the original paint. After a year I think we will go through and put some different paint up on the walls all over the house. Love the Star Wars Legos in the pics!! I have those 2 ships as well! Awesome pieces, and great start to the room!
  2. Either my submission status updated late in the day on Friday (I assume this is the case), or CGC is working on weekends. Either way, 1 step closer to getting my books back!! Modern Slow Track 4/21 - Received 5/13 - Verified 5/21 - Scheduled for grading 6/6 - Graded
  3. My 1st ever submission to CGC... Modern Slow Track 4/21 - Received 5/13 - Verified
  4. It's a bit of catch-22, if speculators are the only ones buying, it takes opportunity away from potential readers. 100% agree. Its always a fine line. Pigs get fat, hogs get slaughtered. Well if 9 copies is hogish I may have to sell a few copies!
  5. All this hype makes me glad that I picked up 9 copies at my LCS last week. They had about 30 in stock at the time, but I cherry picked the ones that didnt have any production/condition issues!! I hope the trend continues!
  6. He is a super nice guy to boot. He lives in the next town over from me and is just down to earth and friendly. Make me like his work even more. He also did this sketch on my blank Thanos Rising variant for me too on Saturday, and the other Thanos sketch at a previous meeting. Dont ask me why I had him do Thanos, I guess I just wanted to see what he would do.
  7. My very 1st purchase of OA. Picked it up on FCBD. Unpublished (as of now) cover for the DC New 52 Talon series by artist Ken Hunt! Love his work.
  8. They made a decent movie about it. Disturbing because it was true! Thats the dude-havent seen the movie did he do the drink thing in it? Classic sociopath BTW. Ps sociopath does not necessarily mean criminal. You could be living with a sociopath and not know it. Here's a test-ask them: A woman goes to her father's funeral and meets the man of her dreams her soul mate. But he leaves before she can get his number. A week later she murders her sister. Why do you think she did that? Does that fact that I don't know the answer to this question mean I am relatively normal or that I am a sociopath?
  9. I noticed those. Where do you get them from? I think I like them better than the plate holder springs I was using.
  10. Awesome room. I really like the Superman on the ceiling. nice touch, and great looking space!!
  11. Yeah even that indirect sunlight is going to fade those books in time. Well i guess thats the price to pay for having books on display. But comics are meant to be looked at not hidden in a dark box somewhere. Ill take my chances
  12. I am just more curious why you value PGX over CGC especially knowing all their history being a CGC board member? Seem all your books are pretty much PGX. I have 6 CGC books, and I guess 8-9 PGX books. At one point I was only concerned about price, and turn around times. At the time I got those PGX books graded PGX was touted for having better on both ends of those concerns. After doing some research and not being only concerned about cost, I would now never send on to PGX. It's amazing what a little research and education will do to shape your preferences!
  13. There is 0 direct sunlight in the room. I know the pics make it look really bright, but it isnt at all. Even the light coming through the window doesnt hit the books on the opposite wall.....you can see that from the one pic. The ones next to the window get no sunlight at all. No worries of fading!
  14. Great.....I am already behind with my Star Wars Lego. I still need the UCS Xwing, the Ewok village and now this. I cant keep up!!
  15. Damn - an expensive wall That is one hell of a wall. I think I'd trade in my entire room for just your half wall!! Nicely done!
  16. I have a ton of books I get from a local antique shop. His prices are sometimes a bit steep, but he always has a nice selection so I root through them looking for the reasonably priced ones. Here are a few to get started.....
  17. June, 1973. Conan Annual #1 and Ghost Rider #1. Thats pretty cool!!
  18. Yeah I did, so I guess that is why she puts up with it. I would have a bigger collection but when I got married the 1st time (keep the snickering to a minimum please) I let that wife convince me to sell a bunch of my collectible stuff. Magic Cards (from the original alpha and beta sets), 1st print sci-fi novels and about 1/3 of my comics. Thank god I didn't get rid of everything. I may be in jail if that were the case!
  19. Awwwwww! That's so cute. Yeah Yeah I know compared to some of the totals I have seen in this thread, my collection is insignificant. My wife, however, would disagree with that assessment. I can only imagine how she will be when I make it to the 10000+ range!!
  20. 4250 total books, and growing (although not nearly fast enough)
  21. Im lucky...while the wife gives me all the time about my hobby, she tolerates it well enough. There is a ton more stuff (artwork and more posters) that I don't even show here.
  22. The bad news is I had to tear the room down due to a sick & elderly mother in law and her husband moving in last month. Cant wait for that kid to get to college and claim that room back.
  23. Havent gotten around to getting an GSX, but here is my ticket to the X-men #94 club!! Sorry for the horrible photo quality.
