  1. VF range for me. From what I’ve heard they knock pretty good on wear around the staples
  2. I don’t know.. 🤔this one I’ll say maybe 9.2 bcause of the few “spine ticks” and it looks like it has some soft dents that can be ironed out. But I leave that advice to the experts in here. the corners look good enough to not ding you on. The bottom right one is beautiful. Top left looks a little worn they might add that in. Nice book!! It’s a beauty I’d send it in personally. If it fetched a NM I wouldn’t be all that surprised either.
  3. Yes. I found out that happens in stacks opposite of each other where the stack ends up even. My experience anyway.. I noticed it because I tried it and saw the books were doing that. So I stopped stacking in large numbers
  4. There’s no shortage of genius in here! I guess I have no excuses now.. keep the good ideas flowin!
  5. Now that’s the out of the box thinking I need! 👍I’ll give it another go around
  6. Looks like a 9.4. No newbie disclaimer it’s just what it is. NM range 🔼🔽
  7. If I take it out of the bag putting it back in without the bottom corner folding is a tricky endeavor. Thanks for the reply! it looks better bagged I’ll say that..
  8. I remember early 90s late 80s they were on the wall behind the counter. I can vouch for that.
  9. I’m working on it. I inquired about it to CGC to see if they have any photos post encapsulation. I’m already over the return on where I bought it. And you know the post office isn’t going to pay for it. So yeah it’s a Hail Mary. Lesson learned- look the book over well within the return time.
  10. Or not😄. I guess I need better photos. That’s ok I’ll show myself out 🚶🏻
  11. That X-men 101 is on my list hopefully one day! Nice books big dollars!
  12. Thanks! It’s my best book.. the seller I didn’t really understand why he wouldn’t slab it and why he was selling it raw for so cheap. I still don’t get it🤔
  13. I welcome the advice. I’ve collected books for awhile but the grading is new to me. And pressing is a mystery. I got a Wolverine 3 82 I believe is a 9.0 ish however it has a newsstand stamp on it. This one I have a reservation on from the tattoo and how much they ding for that. Also as far as I know maybe it can be extracted somehow from this mysterious “pressing” or “dry cleaning they do. I’ll make sure to send in my pre-submissions in the mentioned thread you talked about. Will see how good my eye actually is.
  14. I don’t really I was more making a joke haha. I will definitely do that! I like opinions before I jump in with both feet. Most of questions would probably be along the lines of should I get it pressed or not seeing as how I know nothing of pressing. I have a pretty good eye for grade so far I’m 2 points positive or negative. Seems to me they assess the book by just experience of better or worse copies. I guess what I’m kind of saying is “Spider-Man” is a better made book than amazing or spectacular Spider-Man. The pages are just more full. Or X-men vs uncanny X-men of the same time and place. They seem to hold up a lot better. Then again some spectacular Spider-Man’s are constructed like the same of the regular Spider-Man. It’s like they used the cheap paper one week, the next they got the good stuff.and some soak up the moisture like a sponge (web of) vs the superior. It’s like a hard back book vs a catalog. I love this hobby! It’s so cool to chop it up in here you guys are gonna ban me soon
  15. Sho you right! I’ve heard very good things about Mylar. It’s pricey I’ve heard but i wish I knew before what I know now. Sadly it’s too late. As a young lad I thought I’d be a millionaire from my Spider-Man 1 gold edition book only to find out it’s probably a 8.0 I could never sell haha.
  16. Just joined the chat rooms..Love Bronze Age. I picked this one up off eBay for 120 bucks raw. It was my first submission. I guessed a 9.6 but was happy anyhow. More to follow.. I have 3 Bronze Age X-men at CGC right now that are going to score much lower. Like anyone cares haha go ahead and roast me.
  17. Love that X-men 100! 30 cent variant 7.0 hell yeah!! That’s a beauty
  18. I have books 30 years old I never read I wouldn’t send in to grade. They sat in a file cabinet. When I went to finally change the bags and boards I found a picture of the back cover imprinted on the board. Also the page colors were discolored and the paper seemed more fine. like anything else in this world it deteriorates and dies. Some measures to take is to change your bags and boards, and I even now bought a de-humidifier because some had moisture rippling. Web of Spider-Man’s are notorious for this. some of my collection remained like the day I bought it off the stand, others just didn’t hold up as well. I think certain books are made better than others imho. Oh.. and a 9.2 is a good grade. I look for 9.2s when I’m looking to get a pricey book I really want. Will it sell or do you collect? Those are questions to ask yourself.
  19. My name is Joe. I’m a copper queen and aspiring Bronze Age collector. What can I say I grew up in the 90s and washing cars and mowing lawns couldn’t buy Bronze Age books. So I’m back at 40 years old with a good job ready to get all those books I wanted and could never afford.
  20. I would. It’s not that bad. Encapsulating it preserves it also.
  21. Ah.. thanks I was wondering. Might set my expectations to mid May early June.
