  1. To start, thank you so much. I'm glad you feel that way, and I'll try to do what I can to keep it alive. To answer your question, by myself. My family introduced me to comic book media, which helped me get into collecting and later reading, but I can't say I have any family who share my interest.
  2. The holy grail of my collection. Getting this back in March at 16 years old has to be my biggest feat. Before and after restoration removal done by Phil over at Phantom Restoration.
  3. There is, but there's also slight dirt.
  4. Huh? I'm talking about the dirt on the back cover. Using an eraser to clean off dirt doesn't qualify as restoration.
  5. Worth learning how to clean with an eraser? If so, please recommend good erasers. Thank you!
  6. Hello, yes, that was certainly me. I was able to get in contact with one of the other dealers at the show who was able to forward my message to the dealer, and the situation will be sorted out.
  7. You started collecting 30 years before I was born, unfair head start
  8. I mean, at a certain point I realized that it doesn't mean anything, because whether it's authentic or not, having the stamp is odd nevertheless, so I'm not really factoring it into it being authentic or inauthentic. I do wonder in which scenario it would have been stamped. But update** The dealer does do returns, and we will be working something out.
  9. Just off google, I could find these, with my sketch being practically identical. I don't know what to do, the dealer doesn't do returns, and as of now I'm not sure on its authenticity.
  10. I mean, I'm just so lost. I'm pretty certain it's an authentic Kane piece, the characters are in his style, and his signature and general handwriting look accurate, but the stamp is what confuses me. I'm trying to think of the scenario in which it would have been stamped or who stamped it, because whether it's authentic or not, it has the stamp, which confuses me. But generally, I'm pretty sure it's authentic, and the dealer doesn't do returns.
  11. I've seen many on here discuss the authenticity of Bob Kane pieces, with many discussing them being forged/faked. At Torpedo Con yesterday, I bought this Kane piece from a very credible dealer, who I trust significantly, but since I'm new to collecting I have anxiety over my first pickup. The first two images are of the piece I purchased, with the ones after that being similar examples seen on Heritage and the PSA website. Something interesting is that on the back of the paper the sketch is on, it says "Whitney Museum of American Art", which Bob Kane has had his art on display there previously, making me think that maybe he did it while there. Using the font the text was printed in, I can determine it's Arial font, putting the piece likely being made in the 80s. How does the piece look? Any immediate issues found? Authentic? Opinions appreciated.
  12. I've seen many people on here, and the general internet, talk about how Bob Kane's original art is often forged. I'm a 17-year-old collector, and today, at Torpedo Con, I picked up my first piece of original art, a Kane piece from a reputable dealer. I'm aware that the dealer is very credible in the community, and I trust them deeply, but I'm anxious as I'm new. The first two images are of the piece I picked up. For extra information, the text on the back of the paper says "Whitney Museum of American Art", in which Kane has had his art on display there before, so I believe this compiled with his living in New York to be hopeful evidence. The text on the back was written in the Arial font, which was made in the early 80s. The rest of the images are similar examples to this piece I've seen on Heritage and the PSA website. Let me know what you think, is it authentic?
  13. this book WILL be pressed and cleaned before being submitted. I would just like to know a general grade.
