  1. I tired to do the NES emulator thing last year on my Mac with the original control pad adapted to a USB. (They sell them on Amazon). Unfortunately I could never get it to work.

I would love to play the original NES games.

Either way... I am still fooling around with Assassin's Creed Black Flag...

I have no idea what is going on. I'm in the past. Then I find out that this is Total Recall. Now I have no investment in the character since it is all a vacation dream anyway. What the?

When the original Assassins Creed came out I thought that some game developer had managed to delve into my mind and create what I would think is the perfect game. Of course the game wasn't perfect but it pretty much had every element I ever dreamed of. Awesome character in amazing open world setting, sweet kill moves and weapons, fighting, 6-8-10-20 enemies at time in realistic fashion. By the time I got to Assassins Creed 3 I was so burnt out I wouldn't pay attention to the cut scenes so I had no idea what was going on. I was a zombie just trying to complete the games.

But i'll never forget the first time I played it, scaled my first point and looked out on the city, just amazing depth in the world's they created for the series.

  2. Agree with most of that but NES and SNES games look awesome on my flatscreen. Just spend a little more and buy a top loader NES (later model) and one with av output. No reason to have a separate in my experience anyways

Another thing Id say is that a retro zone powerpak is a much better alternative than the retron

Thanks Rob and Bronty for the input. Since my earlier post I've been busy on eBay. Picked up a boxed system (front load) and some complete in box games. Hopefully I'll be up and running by the end of next week. I have an annual trip coming up in January with college buddies and I plan on having a tecmo bowl tourney so anxious to see what it looks like on a flat screen as that's all that will be available to us. I'd really love to not have to lug a crt, of which I do not own, just to play.

  3. OK, so after xmas shopping and deciding I don't want anything for my PS3, which has been taken over by my kids anyway, I have decided that what I do want is an original, working NES. Tecmo Bowl anyone!

Here's the thing, I don't know anything about buying an old NES (likely off ebay). Does anyone here have any tips or pointers? For example, I've seen some auctions that list the NES as a 72 pin. I have no idea what that means. Is that what I should buy?

All I want is a working NES that I can actually play games.

Any advice (in thread or via pm) is greatly appreciated

  4. Anybody recommend a game that would appeal to yours truly (for the PS3)?

What I have enjoyed in the past:

    Assassins Creed series

    Uncharted series

    The Last of Us

Some you might want to check out if you haven't already played them:

    Red Dead Redemption

    God of War Saga Collection

    BioShock series

    Dead Space series

    Infamous series

    Tomb Raider series

    :censored:

Red Dead Redemption has been on my list for years. Forgot all about doh! I think that's the winner.

I did play thru the first Infamous. It was enjoyable. I to remember getting teed off at some really difficult parts though.

  5. Anybody recommend a game that would appeal to yours truly (for the PS3)?

What I have enjoyed in the past:

    Assassins Creed series

    Uncharted series

    The Last of Us

(you can see the pattern there in the type of game I enjoy)

Can't do FPS as they make me nauseous

Not really into fighting games (Street Fighter type stuff)

Done with sports games (I honestly might hold the world's record for most games played of the EA sports NHL series. I sometimes wonder if I've played 10k games of hockey dating back to 91.)

I like Arkham Asylum but was bored with Origins. Wouldn't mind a decent superhero/Batman game if a good one is out there.

Currently I have ZERO games for my PS3. I got bored with GTA5 and finished Last of Us so I sold everything I had. Currently the only use for our PS3, other than dust collection, is so my kids can play Disney Infinity. It's a great console imo so I should probably have a game for it.....and the wife insists on getting me something for xmas so I have to tell her something lol

    Suggestions?

  6. Ftr I like CGC. I just don't get why people don't vote for change with their wallets. Stop subbing for awhile. I guarantee the world will not come to a crashing halt. Demand they address their lateness issue. Continuing to give them money doesn't effect change.

    ...this. X 100. :applause:

I haven't subbed in 2 years...and that was with my coupons.

I may sub another book one day. But I'll go into it without bothering to pay any attention to any of their stated delivery times. I'll pay for whatever is economical/required and I'll forget about it. One day, apparently far off in the future, I'll get a surprise package in the mail and I'm sure I'll be thrilled. What I won't to is moan about how late they are. Complaining is fine. Complaining while continuing to sub is simultaneously hilarious and head scratching.

  7. Day 29 on my 15 Day Coupon Submission. .

    This is unacceptable, right?

day 15 not including weekends>>>5 day Magazine Express Submission

    receive Aug 18

was told it will be ship to me by Friday 9/5 no email receive or imaged. :boo:

From experience, magazine submissions can be unexpectedly longer than normal. It's the encapsulation. I was told they have to stop and re-calibrate the machine for the larger slab size. Of course maybe they now have more machines ?

At this point I don't think unexpectedly can ever be used in the same sentence as late when it comes to CGC.

Ftr I like CGC. I just don't get why people don't vote for change with their wallets. Stop subbing for awhile. I guarantee the world will not come to a crashing halt. Demand they address their lateness issue. Continuing to give them money doesn't effect change. Anybody ever ask CGC why they don't invoice at the time they ship? Lots of businesses operate in such a fashion. I'd bet a years salary against anybody that there delivery performance would improve 10 fold if they were getting paid after they delivered and not before.

  8. I really think on site grading should stop until they catch up on what people have already paid for sitting at their facility, It shouldn't take over a month to verify my 11 identical books.

That makes no business sense. Also, people like onsite grading. That would be a very unpopular decision. It will never happen.

You're taking a very short sighted approach in looking at this. You want to talk poor business sense? How about starting with the fact that this thread exists. Of course every single person who subs books is giving CGC absolute approval to continue being slow so there's zero incentive for them to improve. Why stop on site grading until they get caught up? Why hire more people? Why bother to address anything? You all will keep subbing anyway. It's crazy.

  9. So you are using Heritage instead of GPA?

Ok then by that logic I lost money then on my AF 15 4.0 cause the last sale was well under 8k just yesterday right? :eyeroll:

STOP comparing the books we established that logic days ago.

My disagreement with you is your logic on the long-term value of TMNT #1

Let me take you back to economic class then.......

Go to GPA and tell me what trend you see for this book in 7.5, 7.0 and 6.0 inthe past 10 years.

See the upward "blue chip" trend?......yes very good student.

BTW AF 15's prices just like Oil prices ($4.00 soon my middle class friends) are just as manipulated as everything else in the business market.

SoT, come clean already. You're just pizzy b/c the Flyers goaltending still sux. :baiting:

    :hi:

  10. Steve's a hockey fan. That's all I need to know about the man's character.

    :hi:

ps: Yeah, this was one of the best reads. Reminds me just how long some of these people have had relationships in this little game, good or bad. FWIW, Steve was the first person who reached out to me when I joined these boards, nobody knew me and nobody liked me. Now, many years later when not many people know me and everybody still hates me, I consider sacentaur a friend.

  11. StarCom are really tiny. Much smaller than GI Joe. More like MASK size or even smaller.

    Pat

Yup. Sounds like Starcom. I used to have all but 2 of the figures. I remember the name of my favorite one, it was Col. John "Dash" Derringer I believe. The magnet feet were cool and the fact that all the moving/transforming parts of the vehicles were gear driven vs battery operated was very cool. Lots of cool design features, too bad the toys never really took off. They have a pretty devout following though, I see pieces moving on ebay regularly. The only downside imo was that many of the weapons (blaster rifles essentially) were over sized and cumbersome. Other than that they were great. I liked that they gave each character a name and a military rank. They had everything from privates an Staff Sgts to Sergeant Major and Colonels.

  12. Anybody remember these kits? Advertised in comics for many years. :applause:

Those are great. I remember getting some out of the quarter machines at the grocery store. That and the baseball helmets you used to get with your ice cream. Not sure if that was Dairy Queen or what but I loved getting those baseball hats.

Here's 2 more for the collection. The Lion is very tough but nothing compared to the Chief. Next to New Orleans the Chief is the toughest figure to locate. Pretty happy with these as all of the original rubber bands are nice and tight and not rotted away.

  13. A boardie asked me to share these - just back from AFA. They are Lili Ledy fixed rocket and removable rocket Boba Fetts:

    RR_FR_BF_AFA.jpg

HOLY KARP Joe! What planet was I on that I missed this earth shattering update. You could've pmed me a heads up at the time so by now I'd be done drooling you teet. :baiting::kidaround:
