My latest Timely pick-up from Toronto FanFest..............enjoy a great cover!!
Fishbone
Great book. 1st GA book I ever bought. Its been at CGC since July 30th. I found out they are currently grading books received around July 7th so i've got a couple more weeks before I get my first baby back home to my grubby little paws.

A few books I got back from CGC this past week...
Detroit trolley
Beautiful copy!!
That is Timulty's favorite cover...
Timulty, paging Timulty....
Is that the one he had up as a 7.0? If so that must have been a nice surprise when it came back from CGC.
In the spirit of disclosure, I did sit on it for a while before I sent it in.
Then I had Matt flatten the remaining butt imprint.
I could care less about pressing. I'd press the mess out of all my books if it would make a positive difference. Have it professionally pressed or stick it in a stack comics for 20 years, makes no difference to me. Sweet book!

Big thanks to Steve (sacentaur) for putting me in touch with Stephen Ritter (great guy to deal with) on this. My first "D" copy and another piece of the Mary Marvel puzzle. All the darkness around the edges of the book are from my crummy scanner.

great book Steve. I need to start making some of those kinds of impulse buys.

Great Supes painting and very well organized collection. I used to have a pretty healthy vintage toy collection (vintage meaning 80's) but slowly it disappeared. Transformers went first, then GI Joe, then Starcom, then Star Wars, then Robotech, then went all of my autographed sports memorabilia and now my wife and daughters have stuck me in the basement, tucked away in a tiny backroom with a tiny collection of golden age and some random things I told my wife I'd leave her first prior to getting rid of. But I will soldier on, eventually I will have enough golden age it'll be bursting out of that room and I will reclaim a more suitable location! I will not give up.

...previously posted "raw", and just back from CGC.....as much as I'd like to keep this puppy, it may end up on eBay soon.....I am in the subprime mtg. business.....perhaps you have heard the news stories over the past 6 months
What a killer book Steve. You wouldn't also be in the subprime comics business would you? If so I might be able to buy that from you. You know, maybe pay it all off in the next 15-30 years?

Hockey... that's a nice Mary Marvel #1. I was watching that auction and would have bid if it hadn't been for some other purchases that I was working on. I'm glad I didn't bid now... no need to bump the price up on you And now it looks like I have some competition for Mary's... oh wait... wrong one.. should be
Thanks, yeah, I was looking for a run I thought I could comlete without going broke and without taking years, so that and I simply like the Mary Marvels so it was an easy choice. Yeah, the MM 1 was actually a relist. Originally the guy had a reserve set of $800. I had a few conversations with him and got him to relist it for the buy it now of almost 1/2 that so I was pretty happy.

Some new stuff I got. Nothing terribly exciting but for me this means I went from owning zero GA books about a month ago to 7 now so the collection grows, albeit slowly.
FYI-all feebay stuff except the Tec. I got that from Metro. My first dealings with them. Frankly, Vincent was awesome. Cut me a nice deal on this and some other stuff and basically answered every email I sent him promptly. I was very pleased with them in my first experience.
back scans of the Mary's were posted in the PGM thread.

My first Timely. Didn't break the bank and happy with the results. 1st one under my belt (GA books #2 and #3 on the way soon)
Thanks for all your advice everyone.

Thanks, it was Batman 33 though. My Tec was the 97. Although I would certainly trade a Bat 33 for a Tec 33. Oh well, someday. And please let me know if you're going to offer up any more Caps. This month is probably shot but it won't be long before I have a Cap in my greedy little palms.

Here she is, my very first GA book. Everything is attached. Cream, supple pages. A few chips out of the top and some spine wear. Slight tearing 1/8" at the staple. Just a tiny bit of reflectivity left. Oh well, i'm happy. Anybody like to venture a guess on the grade? Would be greatly appreciated and would help me get a handle on GA grading standards.
Well, my attachment is there but I can't get it to show up in the post without clicking on it. Sorry, i'm new at this.
Welcome to the boards, great MMC! Great way to Pop your cherry!
As to posting in the body, open a photobucket account. www.photobucket.com its free, then down load your scans/pics into photo bucket. After this you can click on image while you are posting, you will see it under Instant UBB Code and color fonts. Copy the url and presto chango it will appear! Good Luck!
Glad to have you aboard!

the handle is dinom99. I sort of stumbled upon this guy, based on feedback I think he sells comics regularly. When I bought the MM 78 I think he only had that and 2 SA books. I check back a week later and he's got about 9 GA books listed. Good communication, book arrived timely and was exactly as described. I was happy.
Now he's got up
Big Shot 7 slabbed
Action 92
America's Greatest 7
Black Cat 8
Blue Ribbon Mystery 20
Batman 22
More Fun 104
he always lists with a Bin and an hour ago he had another More Fun but its gone now. My guess would be most of the stuff is vg-? Give or a take 1/2 point.
I didn't bother to ask but somebody with some cash on hand would maybe want to PM him to see just how much GA he's got. Lord knows I can't afford to throw much more into the fire this month.

Hey everybody, wanted to state once again my appreciation for the warm welcome I received a few weeks ago. I've been lurking for the past couple weeks whilst i've tried to obtain some GA to call my very own and I am proud to say that operation "Buy GA and fore go diapers, shoes for the wife and food has been a major success!
I got my first book in the mail the other day, MMC #78 (will post a scan tonight). It's not HG but its my 1st GA, my 1st Timely (oh, oh the addiction) and I absolutely love it. Being new to GA I have zero clue about grading standards so I welcome your input.
PS: I couldn't wait for my next GA book so I scored Tec 97 and Batman 33. Haven't rec'd yet but will post scans when available.
PPS: I got these off the same ebay seller, could that be anybody here?
Have a Cigar! Golden Age only....!
