  1. Do you light box these or do freehand? Because they look identical to the originals. Good work regardless! Freehand, I do take a photo copy of the original and divide it into sections and then do the same on my art board to act as a rough guide for placement and such.
  2. Thanks again Oakman, the Steranko Hulk is my favorite, I think it came out best. That's my all-time favorite Hulk cover.
  3. Here are some attempts at cover recreations that I did 2-3 years, pencilled then inked. I posted them once upon a time, but not in this thread: A kirby Doom: [/img] Steranko Hulk: [/img] FF 112: [/img]
  4. I'd agree with this. I think I read somewhere that Frazetta spent time as a young just copying from anatomy books until it became automatic. He might have used Bridgman, a classic. Andrew Loomis is another classic. Loomis has been long out of print but is coming back into print. This link: http://saveloomis.org/ has some downloadable public domain art books, there is some good stuff in there if you don't want to splurge on some new books.
  5. Thanks Oak, very kind of you, your work is very impressive.
  6. I tend to be a copier, I see a pose, image or something in a comic I like so I copy it. I was reading an old B&W Marvel mag this morning and saw an image I liked in an ad for Crazy or Cracked, I forget which, but I liked it so I drew this in the morning: [/img] I liked the splash from the latest Batgirl, started it last week and finished up this afternoon: [/img] I discovered Aphrodite IX by David Finch in a TPB recently: [/img]
  7. Haven't unpacked them yet, but I just know they're good. They always are. Always fun to buy stuff from Dave.
  8. Got a nice set of Next Men books from John. Nice price, quickly shipped, safely packaged. Good deal all around. (thumbs u (thumbs u
  9. Received a few more masterworks, a pair of Inhumans volumes, and once again a pleasant transaction, well packed and quickly shipped.
  10. Bought a few books from the VCC. They arrived safe and sound! Sky donated the proceeds to holiday goodies for the troops! Quite a Gal! Always a pleasure to deal with.
  11. I bought some Thor masterworks and a Spidey omnibus, arrived quickly and safely. A pleasure to do business with.
  12. Low grade but I'm happy to own the pair: [/img] [/img]
  13. Linky for acquiring the book for $30? I just saw that the Black Knight/Yellow Claw book is out as well. The Menace MMW was $30 in pre-order from DCBS and shipped with my current comics. I believe the BK / YC was same price. Unfortunately, that price is no longer valid but you can use their other website: www.instocktrades.com to order or Amazon I guess for similar discount. AS, did you see that there is Lorna MMW coming out I won't buy it as I'll get all the individual issues but otherwise, I'd be ordering as fast as I could! I found the MMW Menace online at a1books: http://www.a1books.com/cgi-bin/mktFront?act=landing&tab=Home for $32.42 shipped.
  14. Say, is that Willie Lumpkin in the background?
  15. Hi all, For the record, ComicSupply did send me a refund on Saturday evening not long after my initial posting in this thread. I'm just catching up here because I've out of town for 2 days. Thanks, Arthur
  16. Yeah, I would greatly appreciate the refund as I no longer need the books.
  17. Yes, a preorder, a preorder dated 3/31/08. If you check my account (email - rtarturo@hotmail.com) and the series of communications regarding order #11652 you'll see that on 10/14/08 you stated that you would look into the matter tomorrow. The next comment and status update is dated 3/13/09 and it says "awaiting items." My last query, dated 7/28/09 received no response. It does not surprise me that you have no idea what this is about because that seems to be the way you go about your business. I find it incredible that you continue to present yourself as a reputable businessman who has somehow been wronged by the members of these boards. I would have written this off as a mistake on my part and my loss but you keep posting here with your preposterous attitude.
  18. I had the good fortune to have read your original post before your deleted it Sharon. It was a good post and it inspired me to throw in my two cents. I'm a pretty quiet board member, if I didn't buy a book from you then you likely wouldn't know I existed. But I have had many transactions with a wide variety of board members over the past two years with only one bad transaction here (the CapFreak fiasco) and one bad transaction off the boards. The off the boards transaction was with ComicSupply. At least Russ would like to no doubt categorize this as an off the board transaction since it was through his website. However, I would never have even gone to his website if I hadn't read about it here. Someone, I don't recall whom, had praised his service, he had a special going (I think it was free shipping if you spent over $25 or something) and he may not have been a hall of shamer yet (or if he was I obviously missed it, shame on me.) So I placed an order, $38.51 in March of 2008, for some moderns and waited, and waited. I sent an e-mail in July through his site, what's up? Waiting on some delayed release books. Sent a notice again in October, received a reply that they should be good to ship, never shipped. In the meantime I started noticing the negative comments about comic supply and the hall of shame induction and all the rest of it. So yeah Sharon, not a big deal that wouldn't have bothered to bring up, live and learn right? I've long given up any hope of seeing any books (which I no longer need) or money, but it was highly amusing to me to see about a month or two ago that CapFreak and ComicSupply, the only two guys with whom I've had bad transactions, were posting in the same threads, quite strange. What comic supply doesn't seem to get is that people like me would never have even come to his site if they hadn't read about it or followed a link from here. So if he can't conduct a decent business through his website then he has no business being part of this board. I don't get involved in the name calling and mess throwing that goes on in some threads but I greatly appreciate those who do it in the hopes of keeping these boards honest and clean. Throw the bum out. Thanks for listening.

  20. I too have been refunded and have received an apology.
  21. I haven't been repaid, nor had a response to my last PM. We're only talking $4.64 since but since you're claiming to have repaid everybody I thought I'd mention it.
