    G/QC 8/1

Called them yesterday (7/31) asking about the status and all a sudden it finally moves. May be a coincidence, may not be.

    Shipped 8/2

    side note:

Is it fairly normal for books to be graded weeks apart within one submission? Most of the books in my submission were graded when the submission was entered as received, then another two books graded date was 10 days after, and the final book was graded on the day prior to shipment. Found it odd that it didn’t seem to be graded in order of the line item #s as well.

Yep my 25 book prescreen has been sitting in GEI since 6/7……..

Just looking at peoples posts on here, it seems like if your submission does not get completed w/in a week of G/E/I then you get the “honor” of having your submission thrown into the void. Guess if they don’t complete the grading by the end of the week they just say screw those books and start on whatever came in most recently.

    7 PRESCREEN MODERN

    Delivered: 7/10

    Received: 7/24

    Quality Control: 7/28

I think this is the first time my cc has been charged before "Shipped" status -- certainly the first time I've noticed it. Weird number, $171. I assume only 5 passed the screen but that total doesn't math with any combination of slabbed/rejects. Unless the reject fee went down a buck.

RIP guess they’re prioritizing recent submissions. Mine and others slightly older pre screen moderns have been stuck in G/E/I for weeks now

I had a similar instance of 2 same-tiered submissions being at such different paces that one was shipped, while the other was still in Scheduled for grading. I called and the books were suddenly in GEI. It's like they prioritize nothing and it's random until someone complains

How long did you wait before contacting them?

    25 book modern prescreen

    received 5/30

    GEI 6/7

    Still sitting……:.:🤷‍♂️

I’m fearing I may be getting put into the same boat. Haven’t been waiting nearly as long as you have but starting to regret doing prescreen with how fast people’s modern slow submissions have been getting completed.

If it's ebay, there's really no such thing as a no returns policy within the the 30 day purchase window. Ebay will step in if you file and the seller won't help resolve.

I actually bought from a comic store, in this case Midtown Comics. I'm not sure if you or anyone else would have experience attempting a return due to a damaged comic with them, but if you or anyone else has, any comment would be appreciated as well!

The indention across the forehead looks like the biggest issue to me. Some of that little stuff might press, I think that indention is going to be hard to fix. I think that will make the other little defects less impactful. I'd max out at 9.0/9.2, but it could go lower. If you bought it, I'd probably try and return. I wouldn't invest the money in grading a book this new with those kind of defects.

Thanks for the advice! I did sent an email to the seller/store, but unfortunately they generally have a “no returns” policy. However, they do say that if the condition of the book does not match what they stated it as (NM in this case) that I could contact them about it.

  9. Hi everyone,

Just received this book a short while before this post, and after examining it, I unfortunately found multiple defects between the front and back covers. I am asking what grade you think it would receive in its current state and whether or not pressing would help at all, and by how much if so. I have tried to include photos of the defects as best I can in addition to general photos.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!

Does prescreen actually add days to a submission? I want to do a prescreen for some moderns, but if the wait time is a lot longer, I'll pass on it. I've been getting moderns graded in about a week recently.

Really seems like CGC turnaround times are completely random currently. Some people have had prescreen go in and out quick while normal moderns taking forever. Personally have a modern pre screen that was delivered on 6/26 that didn’t get opened until 7/14 that was put into G/E/I but hasn’t moved since.

Can't comment on whether this book is/is not a 9.8 candidate after a press without seeing the whole book, front and back. However that looks a pressable defect. Why not try your hand in the "Please Grade My...." section of the forum?

Please read the etiquette / posting rules guidelines for that sub forum first! :peace:

Apologies, should I remove this post and move it over there?

  12. Is there anything I could do about CGC seeming to have damaged a card I sent in for grading? The card did not have a noticeable whitening spot on the bottom right corner of the back before I had sent it in but now shows it in the scans. I’m assuming this damage is the reason for why it got docked points on the corners subgrade. Am I just stuck with having to deal with the fact it seems like a grader kept picking at the corner?
