  1. So I've tried looking on the forums regarding the staples but it seems a bit fuzzy. The book is Malibu Sun 13 and I finally got one. The cover and back of the book are in ~9.4-9.6 range. That said when I received it I noticed some staple discoloration. After running a paper towel across it some light discoloration came off. I checked the pages and outside of tiny rub dots on the cover there's nothing inside. From everything I've seen it seems like maybe only a minor effect but wasn't sure. Regarding paper color is this just off-white pages or is this foxing? Also would this be something that could be cleaned? And if yes would that be too big a risk with the staples? Sorry for the 20 questions.
  2. Thanks. Wasnt sure if there was a list kept anywhere. I was looking at Avery Pressing. He's insured which is solid and can send direct in to CGC. Think im going that route, was just curious if there were any midwest pressers.
  3. I searched the forums and came up with nothing (maybe wrong terms?), but I was looking for a list of comic pressing services out there that are trusted. CGC states its an outside service and the times current are extremely long (or they were beginning of the year). As such was looking for other options for both books Im submitting and books I might not. Obviously is this question isnt allowed delete, but I felt like there had to be a list somewhere of good pressers.
  4. Thanks. Im not familiar enough with the verbiages and explanations to be able to search effectively this helps. My takeaway is that cgc doesnt seem to care, but some collectors do if its noticeable. Fortunately from the examples given in the above the one on this book is extremely minor.
  5. So i received this ASM 300 today and its a gorgeous book. Tight corners, maybe 1 tiny color line (< ~1/16"), glossy, overall amazing shape. That said when I looked at it in the light i could see a line. Originally thought it might be a cut or scrape, but its def an extraordinarily fine fold. Fine to the point that its invisible without direct angled sun. I'm not well versed in the comic grading and damage, so I'm curious how this affects grade if at all. The more i looked at it the more i think it mightve been that way from the get go, because i literally have no idea how one could even fold the book in such a way without damage elsewhere. Any help as to how it affects grade would be greatly appreciated!
  6. Thanks for this. I thought that might be the case but I wasn't positive and wanted to confirm.
  7. So I'm a long time collector who is new to getting comics graded. I recently got my first batch back and was within ~.2 of what I estimated (I was high). After reconsidering why, I now can understand how I was off. That said these things are vexing me. They seem to be "common" on books and Im assuming its something with printing, binding or shipping due to the prevalence, but Im curious how they affect value. I couldn't find anything about them specifically but I was curious. This ASM 361 for example is a super clean copy but has these 2 ticks front cover. 2 ticks on the back. Neither touches the pages so it had to be a cover issue pre binding. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks!
