  1. nope, it's the way the light in the room reflected.. if it was a bend i think i'd be heart sick.. not sure why, but really like the cover..
  2. Thanks, that's kind of what i was thinking.. but new at this, so just needed to hear from a voice of reason..
  3. nice comic.. but I have to ask, What specifically on the comic caused you to do a C&P.. and is that different from just sending it in to CCS for a pressing?? sorry but the stupid in me has to figure this out..
  4. So here is the rough one for today. yes that is a HUGE chunk out of the cover, but the spine/staples are tight and no rust. I love the x-men line, but not in love with this cover. so depending on the grade and if it needs pressing the question is .. is it not worth it or sell it and be done with it (don't want to put $45-50 into a comic worth $20 that I'm only iffy about).. but that depends on how low this grade is. thanks for edumakating me :-)
  5. Again, love this cover, when I was younger and had money (ie before kids) if I found a cover I loved I always bought 2.. one to read and one just for me to look at (ok, that sounds a bit weird), sorry no interior shots I've never opened this copy. and as always thank you for the grade.. as I get a bit more intelligent on these things I'll stop submitting what I'm sure is obvious items to the educated.
  6. playing with the comics a bit today, still trying to get a handle on Pressing or not, and new grading system. So i grabbed 3 that i think i should slab (2 of them are for me, not sure about the third).. I love this cover, sorry no interior shots i've never opened this copy, but very curious how newer comics are looked at and graded.. ok, here's the stupid newbie question, are the grading standards stricter with newer comics?? ie, would damage on a 1990 comic be the same deduction as the same damage on say a 1965 comic?? told you it was a stupid question....
  7. Galen130, that is the most succinct response. I guarantee you when i saw that wonderful scratch i had a lot more choice words (thank goodness we just became empty nesters).. thank you all for the input.. had no idea how it would affect value..
  8. sorry, i thought the first ones were done yesterday.. didn't realize the moderator delay pushed them into today.. i'll take 3 down..
  9. Don't know what to say, but yeah it is rough.. is the missing tag at the top of the page the worse or the creases that look like the break the color.. or is it all just bad?? stapes are strong, not pulled through or rusted and the center fold is tight.. your insight and help is appreciated.. is this a candidate for pressing (never have done that so not sure how much it helps). thanks again
  10. OK, as in my other humble asks. i am trying to figure out the new (to me, look at my screen name, it's pretty accurate) grading system that is used. I have comics from my younger years that i would like to slab (and for many put up on MY wall, that's the one the wife lets me have). but some i hope to sell to pay for the slabbing. any help in educating me is appreciated. thank you.
  11. OK, i can say this really has never been read.. i bought it then ended up moving so stuck it in a box and there it has sat forgotten and forlorn.. i thought i had a 9.8, then i pulled it out of the bag and $%#@#$%$#$%$% there's a scratch down the back. so now i have no idea how much that detracts from the grade.. your help would be appreciated.. luckily after i get it slabbed i'll put it on my shelf and slap anyone who tries to look at the back :-).. spine not only has no ticks, it has ZERO creases as it has never been opened more that i just did for that picture ..
  12. thank you all.. i was thinking, 2.5 so it's nice to see that my grading might be a bit low.. but am way more than happy with a 3.0.. again thanks
  13. OK, last one for the day.. sorry to bombard you all like this, just trying to get a sense of what the grades are for comics that have been in storage for 30 years. once I get some feedback on several to see how I should adjust my grading I'll quit bugging you all (well, maybe). and to answer one of your questions before you ask.. I probably spent at most $1 on any of these comics that I'll be showing.. and for some I bought the ones the comic store didn't want so more like 25 cents.. I think these would be good to slab, but your feedback, thoughts and ideas would be greatly appreciated. And if you think I should press any that would be appreciated also. thanks in advance, the old fat man.
  14. OK, old fat man again. trying to get a sense of what the grades are for comics that have been in storage for 30 years. once I get some feedback on several to see how I should adjust my grading I'll quit bugging you all. But I do appreciate your help in getting me educated (last time I looked at comics the grade was M, NM, VF, F, G, get the heck out of here)... over the course of the next couple of weeks I'll drop some comics that I think would be good to slab, your feedback, thoughts and ideas would be greatly appreciated. And if you think I should press any that would be appreciated also. thanks in advance, the old fat man. this one is in a bit rougher shape with the creases, spine tics and yes, that rotten rip.
  15. OK, please allow the old fat man to make a few mistakes. I have some comics that have literally been in storage for 30 years, I want to send some in for grading but as I have never done this I wanted to see how far off I am on their grades and if it even makes sense for me to send them in. Over the course of the next couple of weeks I'll try to drop the ones that I think are a good idea to slab, your thoughts and ideas would be greatly appreciated. And if you think I should press any that would be appreciated also. thanks in advance, the old fat man.
