  1. This is my favorite thread of all time. Well, not really, but it's certainly been fun so far.

I'd like to see the list of Spideys and their grade.

Will Batman 423 prove to be a fraud? Will the high grade Spideys sell for top dollar and be labeled the BL's Dad Deserves Better pedigree? Will cap locks be the end of this forum?

    Stay tuned, Bat fans....

A little bit of proof (like this supposed correspondence between nuffsaid and BL's dad) would be a good start for batfella here.

Even that proof isn't really necessary, because buttheadcollectibles outright states that there was no agreement.

No one "agrees" to "yeah, you know, whatever the grades and prices are, it doens't matter, I'll buy them all."

So, in that respect, there was no "deal" to begin with.

His feedback is proof enough ! Nuff-said. Seriously ! ;)

  2. I bet this is all one big set up. Baltimore Lauren just wants to sell some Spideys she's got sitting around, so she created this fake eBay seller who's a real jerk. She then set up a fake relationship between her father and this fake seller, who is actually herself. She then created this thread, knowing that all the gallant and chivalrous men on here will swoop in and support her in her time of need. Soon this fake seller who is really Lauren will come in and show off all the good comics he (really she) has but can't sell because of Lauren's dad. He (she) will then claim to file a suit against Lauren's dad, promising to sue if those comics don't sell within 30 days. Again, all the gallant and chivalrous men here will swoop in and pay exorbitant prices on those comics in the hope that Lauren will notice their efforts to save Lauren's father from certain doom. All the while, BL sits back and bathes in all the money she's making from this forum of suckers.

A complex way to get around the spamming law ? :insane:

  3. LAUREN...DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT WHEN YOU WRITE THESE SILLY STATEMENTS? I HAVE DEALING WITH YOUR FATHER FOR MONTHS....OFF EBAY...HE FOUND ME THERE AND WE ESTABLISHED OUR DEALS ON THE PHONE.....AND FOR THE LAST TIME AS I WILL NO LONGER PLAY THIS SILLY COMIC BOOK GAME...YOUR FATHER KNEW WHAT THE BOOKS WERE...HE COMMITED TO BUYING THEM WHEN THYE RETURNED FROM CGC (I DON'T CARE WHAT HE'S TELLING YOU NOW.....AS HE IS LYING), AND WHEN THEY CAME HE RENEGED ON THE DEAL....BEGINNING AND END OF STORY!

Please take the Caps-lock off. Really.

Just list them on E-Bay and quit whinning. Tool.

    B~

  4. LAUREN....AN APOLOGY? NOT ON YOUR LIFE! NOT THAT WHAT YOU HAVE TO SAY HAS ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE FACTS, BUT......YOUR DAD IS AN ! I HAVE SOLD HIM MANY...MANY BOOKS. ALL OF WHICH WERE VERY WELL PRICED ,AND SINCE THEY WERE ALL CGC'D BOOKS THE SLABING COST NEVER CAME INTO PLAY. THERE WERE MANY TIMES WHEN HE SAID THE $ WOULD BE SENT BY PAYPAL ON A CERTAIN DAY & THAT NEVER HAPPENED. ON THIS DEAL THAT YOU SO RIGHTIOUSLY HAVE COME TO YOUR FATHER'S RESCUE...EVEN THOUGH IT SEEMS HE CAME CRYING TO YOU LIKE A BABY......SO SORRY HE IS UPSET........BUT TELL HIM TO GROW A PAIR!

I TOLD HIM ABOUT A NEW BUNCH OF UN-SLABED AMAZING SPIDER-MAN'S THAT I AQUIRED, AND AS ALWAYS I OFFERED THEM TO HIM FIRST....HE SENT ME A LIST OF THE #'S HE WANTED, AND WE AGREED THAT I WOULD SEND THEM TO CGC TO BE GRADED, AND WHEN I RECEIVED THEM I WOULD LET HIM KNOW GRADE/PAGE QUALITY, AND PRICE...AND HE TOLD ME TO COUNT ON HIM TO BUY ALL THOSE ISSUES HE NEEDED...AND SO I DID JUST THAT. AS CGC HAS BEEN RUNNING LATE ON ALOT OF STUFF...I GOT THEM IN YESTERDAY, AND SENT THE ENTIRE LIST TO YOUR FATHER TO AGAIN ASK HIM TO LET ME KNOW WHICH ISSUES HE WANTED.........HE TOLD ME HE WAS "NO LONGER COLLECTING SPIDER-MAN'S" AND THANKED ME FOR THINKING OF HIM??? GIVE ME A BREAK!

BEING QUITE SHOCKED I TOLD HIM HE NEEDED TO KEEP HIS END OF THE DEAL...AS I HAD ONLY SENT THEM OUT DUE TO HIS REQUEST....AND THAT I HAD SPENT A GOOD DEAL OF MONEY TO DO SO.........HE MUST HAVE BEEN KNOCKED ON A HEAD A FEW TIMES OVER THE LAST FEW MONTHS BECAUSE HE CONVENIENTLY FORGOT EVER HAVING SAID ANY OF THOSE THINGS TO ME.......SO NOW I HAVE TO GO ELSEWHERE TO SELL THESE.......SO AS FAR AS HIS FEELINGS...OR YOUR FEELINGS FOR THAT MATTER....I DONT GIVE A RATS ABOUT THEM...AND I STICK WITH WHAT I SAID BEFORE......HE SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF HIMSELF.....AND NOW SO SHOULD YOU FOR BEING SUCH A TATTLE TAIL...WHEN YOU NOT ONLY DONT KNOW THE FACTS...BUT IT SEEMS YOUR FROM YOU ELBOW AS WELL......

Um , ..I'm sure your going to get a load of requests from folks here wanting to do business with you. meh

  5. He probably shills his auctions too.

    From his Ebay "MY" page:

To protect bidder privacy, when the price or highest bid on an item reaches or exceeds a certain level, User IDs will be displayed as anonymous names. For auction items, a bold price means at least one bid has been received.

Note: Anonymous names may appear more than once and may represent different bidders.

He added his own "Custom Shilling Clause" ! :o Classic..... lolmeh

  6. I hate to do this, but I find this kind of behavior very unacceptable, especially from a "well known seller". I only know about this since my dad called me about it very upset, and if it's one thing I can not tolerate, is my dad being upset. For those of you who don't know, my dad and I collect comics together. Some of you guys know him because my dad has bought off of here. I love my dad with all of my heart, and to see anyone treat him that was really tears me up on the inside.

My dad bought some ASM's from this guy in the past, I'd say the last time he got any was March? This exchange happened yesterday, and today:

    "mark,

hey! ok the spideys are in......let me know thw #'s again of the following as i remember i had most of them graded for you.......give me the #'s needed and i'll give you grade and price...they graded really high!!

    Regards,

    Nuff Said Collectibles"

    "Randy,

I am not currently buying any more Amazing Spiderman's, as I am concentrating my efforts in another direction. Thanks for thinking of me.

    Mark"

"WHAT! YOU TOLD ME YOU WANTED THESE...SO I SENT THEM TO CGC TO BE GRADED FOR YOU! I HAD NO INTENTION ON DOING SO UNLESS YOU NEEDED THEM...YOU NEED TO STICK TO YOUR PROMISE....AS IS SPENT ALOT OF MONEY GRADING THEM ....FOR YOU!" You want my opinion? That was stupid. You should have contacted my dad before hand to see if he was even still collecting ASM's.

"I never commit to this type of thing without knowing what cost will be involved !You need to get better organized in your business and stop blaming others for your shortcomings. It is not right to try to intimidate me this way.You need to grow up.Do not bother me again!"

"you have some nerve!! i have only been nice to you. i have given you great books at great prices...and even held things for a period of time to allow you to pay at your convience. i have the email somewhere where you told me the books you wanted and were quite aware of the fact that i was sending them to cgc for YOU! don't worry,,not only will i never "botther" you again, but i will now send this entire story to all others that i know you have done business with. all i can say is you should be ashamed of yourself." No buddy, you haven't. I told my dad months ago to be careful around you.

"I do not have any idea what you are talking about. You have always charged me top dollar for the books you sold me.You have gotten a lot of money from me.You have always rushed me into paying more quickly than I wanted to and overpay for shipping with smaller orders. You have sent me books with old labels without telling me in advance, that I had to resubmit for reholder at more expense. You have not always been nice to me.This is a prime example.I never comitted to any books with you to send in to CGC WITHOUT KNOWING WHAT I WOULD PAY FOR THEM .To do so otherwise would not be economically feasible.Whatever email you fabricate is just that.

I still wish you best future success ."

"F**K OFF individual_without_enough_empathy..........YOU HAVE NOW BEEN BLOCKED FORM MY RECIEVEING ANY OF YOUR STUPID EMAILS....AND FROM EBAY AS WELL........"

That was his last reply. My dad called me pretty shaken up, and I can see why. You sir, should be ashamed of yourself! I would never, NEVER treat anyone that way, especially a customer! I feel bad for posting this, but I feel as though you guys should know.

If someone told me to look out for , or even to get any items that I may see in our estate sales for them , I would , however I sure wouldn't be spending time, energy and $$ on these items. People's needs, desires, and priorities change. PERIOD ! No business(that's in bus. ) operates on that "but you told me scenario". lol

    Guy's silly... meh

hm I think I'm gonna place a few dozen orders for him to slab some books for me. :/

  7. Definitely don’t use a towel. It is not smooth and will leave marks. Regular printer paper is fine but it can stick to the cover. Something called silicon release paper seems to be very safe and is super non-stick.

I think the temp for a iron would be light to medium and you would need some pressure. I hope that helps.

You can buy parchment paper from the supermarket, too. (In the same aisle where you find the aluminum foil and plastic wrap.) It's essentially the same thing as the silicone release paper that conservators use.

Their are cheaper substitutes but why would you want to use them?

**Look up the word "cheapskate". :baiting:

  8.

    Kenny ,

The warping is removed by allowing it to cool under pressure such as a stack of books. Now , from preventing the back from looking like a waffle , your on your own. I haven't tried correcting that , or pressing since I got yelled at, questioned several mos. ago. (thumbs u

Good to know Brian, you do realize this thread is from 06 right? :kidaround:

doh! Sorry , just popped on for a moment. I WAS curious why you were asking b/c I remembered you being the resident expert on the subject. (thumbs u

  9. Well I am tired of secrets, tired on not knowing so I am taking it upon myself to figure out exactly what pressing is. I will be contacting everyone I can find who knows paper, restoration, and pressing to find out for myself what the f is actually involved.

This is my first step towards that goal.

To my credit I am what is considered a master craftsman so to speak. I am quite good at cutting glass and making leaded windows.

Pressing paper ephemera should be a breeze.

This will be an ongoing experiment. I promise to divulge everything I learn along the way. The sole purpose of which is self education, and anyone else who cares to join in... I welcome all and any feedback.

Instead of person_without_enough_empathying about pressing(which I have done in spades) I want to figure it out for myself. It aint rocket science folks, just alot of trial and error. It involves paper, and various methods of manipulation.

All due respect Matt, you are a very skilled at what you do. I will never be you. I realize you are not to be held responsible for all things evil about pressing. You just happen to be here, and showed your face,it is easy to single you out. I do not for a second take that lightly.

I really dont have the time, nor the resources to devote what is needed to dedicate myself to such a task, but what I do have is desire. A desire to understand what up to now has been a trade secret.

For todays consideration I took a comic, bent a corner and pressed it out in a matter of minutes. I took household tools and spent only a few minutes.. but what I did worked.

    It involved heat.

So I guess we call this HEAT experiment #1

I took a comic, bent a corner. Took my iron, turned it on, then off. Placed some paper on either side of the cover...pressed the iron down as hard as I could, moved it around, pressed some more, then placed a heavy book on top for 1 minute. Thats it.

This was meant to be very simplistic, and it was. Any dealer can do this. Its scary.

Here is the book after 2 minutes.

    imageaftercoverhandhld.jpg

    imagecoverhandheldinsideafter.jpg

End result, the crease was still there, barely. And the paper was only mildly warped from the heat.

I did this in about 5 minutes. On a whim. This is of great interest to me,I have no idea if I am alone in thinking this way.

    More to come

  15. Yes , very important ...... As a matter of fact , I spend much of my time trolling for newbies with under 100 post or so .

:gossip:...I find them much more gullible , and I can pick on them much more than let's say a Seanfingh or a DiceX w/ out the unwanted lash-back , and more importantly they find me quite humorous because they haven't yet heard my 2-3 lame jokes. (thumbs u
