  1. Significant Art Day for me this week - I have been looking for pages from Cat 3 for 15 years or so...and I am happy to watch over one of my favorite pages from the book... The Cat 3 p3 Paty (Cockrum) Greer / Bill Everett - 1972 Thumbnail here...but click on it for the big picture I think the layout shows well in the thumbnail but the middle splashy panel looks better full size
  2. Great excuse to look at all the marvelous covers - would be tough not to vote for 24 or King SIze 1
  3. Anyone know the split of duties on What-If 28? Miller pencils or layouts? Mark
  4. Conan 1 was broken up so would be tough to get it all back together...don't think the KS 1 above is original but agree it is gorgeous!
  5. Cool thread! I am a big Everett fan and was great to see this kicked off by an Everett...so here is mine: Love the Atlas stuff as well - still working on the comics but very little art out there...so this cover with Venus is that much more dear to me
  6. If you look at how he inked it you can see that he used an extraordinary amount of feathering to create the shadows and model the forms. The original art would be a masterpiece. I would love to see it, any idea how much of the original art for some of these Atlas masterpieces survived? Have you seen much through the years? There was much less care taken with the Atlas art than there was of the Silver Age art, and a lot of the SA art was lost. There are surviving pieces from Heath, Everett, Maneely, Severin etc. but I haven't seen much. I am a die hard Everett art collector - I have seen less than 5 pieces of Atlas art...seen perhaps 10 pages pre-SA....
  7. I did see the Everett Subby GA page in Heritage sell for $86k a while back but hesitated to include it in the list as I don't really know that market. Where would he and his various popular runs fall in the list Mark? Thanks. MTL>> That is an outlier Everett Subby 'A' panel page should be in the $5 - 10K section (multiple dealer sales in that range - I'd put both 2X and 70s together for this run) Mark I knew I was forgetting something - agree An "A' Young Men page would be in the next tier up so.... So 60/70s Everett Subby $5 - 10K for As....

  9. I don't believe it was meant to be an exhaustive list - I mean no Everett Subby either
  10. I like it the way I suggest as there is a range on Bs, just as there is on As...actually would remove the +/- 5% instead. Any way it is done, would be nice to have the spread between A (Top 10%) and D (Bottom) I am not sure if you feel the %s I floated are too low or too high?
  11. This is interesting list - and agree people may find it 'annoying' but should help folk learn a bit about different markets....would be nice to add some type of typical distribution of what A+ vs. A vs. B vs. C looks like. This varies by artist/title to an extent but would help people interpret this list, and not get carried away when the more typical pages pop up - if someone has time they could provide some illustrations on public sales of A, B, C pages for some of the rows to help make the distinction Thinking something like this.... A+ = Top 2% of all pages for the line in question - 'Stupid Money' A = Top 10% (~ 2 pages / issue) - 100% of value range listed B = Next 30% (~ 6 pages / issue) - 40% +/-5% of value C = Next 40% (~ 8 pages / issue) - 20% +/- 5% D = Next 20% (~ 4 pages / issue) - 10% +/- 5% Above is more a template for the group to iterate on..the ranges should be fairly tight as the row $ ranges are already wide ($5 - 10K) Mark P.S. Kirby FF could be broken up by 2X or not
  12. Preliminary art is great...market prices all over the map just like finished art
  13. Love the disclaimer at the bottom of the evil eye splash page!
  14. How about some interior pics from that Everett story!
  15. Double Damn! Love these copies, much better than mine of the same! What a great looking book. My favorite of the three Everett Venus covers. Everett is great - and fortunately while 17 - 19 are more sought after, he is also credited with 15, 16 and part of 14 so more goodness...and don't forget Subby 57 with Venus on the cover!
  16. Left a comment on your CAF, congrats!
  17. Hello, I used my CGC coupon and got these back + my beat ASM 2 (Keeping so no pics) Star Spangled 151 9.4 - 1st Unknown Soldier Daredevil 2 7.5 ASM 3 6.0
  18. Perhaps it seems there are less OMG moments because many years ago your collection was smaller and your focus was wider - as you satisfy a portion of your wants there will be less that makes you go OMG...because you already have your example(s). At least this is true for me - easier to let some of the OMG pieces go as well if they are going to sell for more than a Tesla Mark P.S. I'd say I find about 1-2 pieces a quarter than I really 'need'
