Well, as they say, all good thing must come to an end.

 

I met up with the owner of the USAF Mildenhall collection last night and we went back and forth on a number of topics. One of the issues we now have is the time involved in finding just a handful of these OO books. They were spread over almost 300 boxes of stuff and whilst, initially, it was simple enough to grab large chunks of them, we’re now discovering that a search through a whole box might yield only one or two books that would be appropriate for the boards. The majority of what’s left is lower grade, or pence copies, or too recent…and life’s too short to spend a day finding eighteen books to put up here.

 

Another thing that we discussed at length was…what to do with the other 50,000 books...the answer to which will be a bit longer in coming. Let’s just say that it will involve every one of them being processed, a web-site, and a new & exciting venture.

 

However, with me having a ‘proper’ job, it’s going to take some time to get this up and running. In the interim, though, I’m going to be no stranger to the Marketplace. I’ve got some stuff to throw up this weekend (FF #1 and Spidey #1, anybody?), and I’m working on a potential consignment deal that will open up an extensive 60s and 70s collection. I’m also toying with the idea of trimming down some of my own collection (all of them being Silver & Bronze 9.0s and better), and of course, as I process 50,000 books, there will be more OO books I come across, as well as items that I know will generate interest here.

 

I’ve posted all the unsolds in a gallery below and as a parting ‘thank you’...
