One possible stumbling block though is the general public. My wife saw the pictures and she thought it looked bad and wondered why they didn't get Nicholson back. I explained to her it's a "re-boot" of sorts with a totally different approach than the early 90's movies. (Of course, she doesn't really know much about Batman and humors me by watching them. ) Mix in Baby-Boomer's who think Jack Nicholson/Cesar Romero for the Joker and it could pose a hurdle.

 

In 15 to 20 years, when they make a whole new set of Batman movies, they may be saying why didn't they get Heath Ledger to play the Joker again? I don't think it's a hurdle as much as nothing any other long term franchise goes through. Actors get old and need replacing. It has worked for James Bond for 40 years.
