I don't understand - what do you mean exactly?

The rigid and somewhat sharp top edges can easily slice into a cover if not inserted carefully.

I suppose that could happen if you don't bag you comic before inserting it.

BTW... even with a another bag protecting the comic, I would not use top loaders for long term storage. I have seen some top loaders that are so oily they literally feel greasy. I suspect this residue could leech through anything inside of the top loader.

Can someone help me understand why you would want a top loader? It looks like a slab to me...the above noted purpose for transporting expensive books make sense...but other than that...

In all honesty, I would like to know as well. I have never really cared for them, but maybe I am not aware of their proper application.

The reason I am interested in them is primarily for display for my non-slabbed books and for safety when shipping.

Pretty much. I wouldn't use Top Loaders without mylars though.....
