They figured that by 1986, given how all of the people of Africa would live in harmony together once the colonialists had left, that it would be all one big happy country by then.

 

I'm curious, did they think RFK would come back from the dead and be president in 1986?

 

Not to mention, I guess they also thought that Golda Meir, Mao and Charles de Gaulle would all still be in power some 15 years later! Actually, come to think of it, de Gaulle was dead by 1970...dunno when this comic came out.
